My Stats (VIRGINIA RESIDENT)

Cumulative GPA: 2.9
Yearly GPA: (2.9, 2.2, 3.6, 2.9 first quarter/ 3.6 second quarter midterm)
5 AP’s
Factors for poor performance: moving and problems adjusting (implemented in essay)
New SAT: 1930 (690 Math, 670 Writing, 570 Verbal) = 1290 on old 1600 Scale
SAT II Math BC: 700

EC: Web Design Club Founder & President, Habitat for Humanity
Smithsonian Volunteer, Janmedia/Web Design Company Job
International Experience

Obviously my grades are very low but I think I have average SAT scores and a solid SAT II score. I have some EC’s and have job experience at a respectable computer firm. I’ve taken a summer college course at Mason also as a junior in high school and got a B, which suggests that I can handle college-level courses. I was also taking the course while holding two jobs - Smithsonian and Janmedia.

Performed poorly in early school years but will convery a sense of maturity in my essay and talk about what I’ve learned through my experiences living abroad. Most significant experience is living in a third-world country (Bolivia) and getting a dose of reality, which resulted in an increase in my grades. Was also seperated from my father for a year when he got a job in Baghdad, Iraq.

Anyhow… any comments, suggestions?
Which schools do I have a realistic or outside shot at? U Michigan and Virginia Tech seem to have high acceptance rates?

BTW does anyone know about Union College?

u have already posted this buddy old pal.

there is such a thing as SAT II Math BC?
i think it's just SAT II math IIc right?

I think you need to be more realistic. UVA/Umich/WM isn't going to happen. Your "safties/matches" are probably slight-reaches to reaches. You have a 2.9 which will not be bolstered by your good SAT scores.

okay, i am going to say it again-- zero chance at any reach. even your matches are uhm, not matches. yeah, i think you're a bit too optimistic. apply, see what happens, you'll get rejected and yeah..thats about it. report back in april, i think you'll find that you agree with me.

Your GPA will really kill you...

George Mason- 90% chance
James Madison- Not a definite, I'll say 70% chance you'll get in
Northeastern- Rejected
U-Washington- Definitely a Reach, I'll say 40% chance of you getting in.
Maryland- Rejected
William and Mary- Rejected even though you're a resident
UVa- Rejected even though you're a resident
Michigan- Rejected
Lehigh- Rejected. Not definitely rejected, but most likely.
USC- Give USC a shot. Your father being an alumni can definitely help, and MAKE SURE not to check on the question that asks if you need financial aid lol. I have a friend that got into USC with an 1150 and about a 3.2 or so since his father went to USC and because he's rich and didn't need to ask for financial aid. If you need the aid, you obviously need to ask for it...but it'll decrease your chances.
And I'm not too familiar with Rochester or Union, sorry.
