In 9th and 10th grade I was on the school’s tennis team. However, I did not play in 11th grade. Is it better to mention this activity or not on my common app activities list? I’m mainly worried that colleges will think I’m inconsistent in my activities.
I’m applying to competitive liberal arts colleges and a few Ivy Leagues, just for a competition gauge.
If you have nothing else to put, then sure, but make sure to put it on the bottom of the list.
If you have other activities that you have participated in and are in currently, don’t include tennis. It doesn’t help you. If that’s the only thing you really have to put, add it.
If you’re applying to highly competitive colleges, there is no one simple answer. You have to understand the “whole” they look for.
In response to having other activities, I do. I was just curious about this specific aspect. I’m also founder and president of my school’s environmental club, treasurer and co-founder of my school’s Model UN club, varsity captain of the quiz bowl team, Homeroom representative for student government, and involved in DECA and the school’s newspaper. The problem, to me, is that some of these clubs like environ and model UN I started later on in high school, so I wanted to see if it would be a good idea to show that I was still involved in the school’s other activities in 9th and 10th grade. Thanks for the advice everyone!
Yes I would include as it is no different than any other EC
List in order of importance and have that last, the reader will also see the dates/year when you participated
and will conclude you found another activity you were more passionate about
good luck
