HI everybody. I’m an international student and applying for USA university.
Unlike the America, my high school starts from grade 10, not grade 9. I was studying grade 9 in my junior high school (middle school)
So do I have to ask my coundelor to include the 9th grade transcript ? he has already submit my School Transcript with grade 10 and grade 11 transcripts. Note that he doesn’t have access to my 9th grade transcript.
So I have to report my middle school where I studied 9th grade in the “Other Secondary School” Section of Common App ?
no, the universities I’m applying on ly ask for secondary/high school transcripts. I assume that I don’t need to ask my counselor to send the 9th grade transcript.
Contact your target colleges to get clarification, but most want the last three years, not including the present year. Some ask for HS or the international equivalent. But if they tell you they want the 9th grade transcript, then they want the 9th grade transcript.
Each college and university sets its own policies about this. You need to ask each of them separately. Do not be surprised if each asks you for different things.
thank you for the helps guys. I already emailed the Insitutions.
Now, just in case they ask for the 9th grade transcript, can I ask my counselor to send it through emailed to the school even after the deadline ? I fear that the missing 9th grade transcripts will disqualify me. My counselor already submitted the School Report and cannot include my 9th grade transcripts on COmmonApp
Just wait for the answers to your email inquiries, and do what colleges instruct you to do. You might have to wait a bit for a response - this upcoming Tuesday is a federal holiday, and many offices are closed on Monday too.
Most colleges will accept supporting documents that arrive shortly after the application deadline.
guys, So I just sent my grade 9 transcript to my counselor and he said that there’s a section in his CommonApp called “Optional Report” and he said that he might upload my 9th grade transcript in that section. Is it valid to upload my 9th grade transcript that way ?
Yes, apparently the “Optional Report” option is there so that the counselor can make a correction to a previous upload.
From the Common App Recommender Solution Center:
*Counselors: The Optional Report may be used at any point in the academic year to submit updated grades and/or transcripts, as well as to correct errors previously submitted on any recommendation form.
Keep in mind that the Optional Report form can only be submitted once during the application season.*
