Hi, I'm a freshman (9th grade) at a private, Catholic high school in NW United States. This semester I am taking:
French III Honors : A-
Physics I Honors: A-
PE I (required): A-
World History I (required): A
Algebra II/Trig Honors: A-
Faith (required): A-
English I Honors: A

I've taken all of the available Honors classes that I can take as a freshman.
So far (grades above) I have A's and A-'s. I'm really worried about this because my GPA will only end up as a 3.75 or 3.8 for first semester. I realize that I will do MUCH better during second semester as I understand exactly what I have to do. Coming to a new school with a completely different curriculum, I think that this semester wasnt nearly as good as what I can do. Does this lower GPA affect my college entrance? I am aiming for the top 20 colleges for a pre-med program. I understand that some colleges don't care about freshman grades, but if I show improvement, and move my GPA to a 3.9-4.0 for next semester, will it affect my chances? I'm pretty worried about it, and I wanted to know what you all were thinking. Thanks!

You need ten and eleventh grades gpa as well as SAT scores too chance.
It’s to early now. I suggest stop stressing and start working.
Come back in two years. CC will still be here.

Freshman, eh? Back off of CC a little bit; think some about college, get some ideas, maybe. But stay away from this site; don’t let it color your perception or tint your expectations of yourself! Take the PSAT and SAT (or whatever) as a junior (or earlier, but don’t get too hung up on either before your junior year) and come back sometime then, to figure out how your scores and ideas for college stack up against reality (which is occasionally hard to come by on CoLOLege Confidential). For now (and for the rest of your educational career), go get some A’s, study, do things that you love (play an instrument? a sport? Don’t do it to get into college; find your passion!) with people you love: Friends, family, a significant other, even. And have a little fun, you know? This high school and college business isn’t worth it, otherwise. And, again, don’t put too much stock in anything you read here (with a few notable exceptions, like SilverTurtle and his ilk, who are damned brilliant) or on other sites like Students Review (avoid) and College Prrowler (note the intentional misspelling, as it’s redacted otherwise; read it with a kiloton of salt, just as you would read CC). Best of luck!

Oh, and ignore Turntabler. I do hope you’re not a ■■■■■, msellars; the length and detail of your OP suggested otherwise.

Get off CC, your just gonna get worried…First, SAT’s do matter, so when you are a junior, come back to the forum then. Oh, keep the grades up and stay in the top 10% of your school. That is all.
