I am a junior right now, and I am confident in my SAT math II and literature scores.
But I registered to take the chemistry SAT subject test, and I was wondering if UC's will consider my low chem SAT II if I take it.

Is it better for me to not take the chem one, or does it not matter?

The admissions lady from UCSD talked to us in class last week. Basically the UC's will see ALL your scores because it's all one final transcript that is sent from collegeboard to the UC's. The office of admissions claims that they only take into account the highest scores so technically they do see low scores, but apparently they're not counted. The question is how can they ignore a low score... Also for c/0 2006 you only need 2 SAT II's, so technically it shouldn't be counted if you do poorly.

Do the UCs see the scores AFTER they make their decision already?

I thought on the application, we just submit our scores, and it's only IF we're accepted, then they ask to see the transcript from collegeboard...?

The UC's don't care about the score on the SAT II (or SAT I) that you do not report.

They only look at your application scores and then verify that they are correct.

I heard this from UC Berkeley admissions officer during an official tour.

Private schools might look at all of your scores, but I doubt it if they have time.

You are supposed to report all your scores. It is a part of your UC application to have Collegeboard Send your Score Report, which means alll of the scores are sent, you can't choose. I didn't send mine in November, but I was asked to send it to all the UCs for them to evaluate my app in January. They have not asked for my high school transcript yet, which I think is what you are referring to, PXapline.

~danc, don't worry about it. I got a pretty crappy score in Chem and Math IIC, but I'm not a math or science major. My scores that i used as my three were in the 700s and one 800 (I used Math IC, needed Writing, and USH - I applied as History major). If you are a prospective science/engineering major then you might want to reconsider, otherwise it's just the money. Good Luck :)

They only ask for your highest scores and only 3 sat 2's . From 2005 they only want 2 sat 2's. They are not interested in the scores you do not report, although they can see all of it on the scores report from College board.

sounds right to me
