Class of 2022. Please.
Just an opinion. GT is very selective for CS. Your scores are fine for consideration. Apply early (I’m not talking ED) and good luck.
My son is a freshman in CS.
Apply by Oct 15, its a non binding early action program and best chance at the highly competitive scholarships for OOS, if you are OOS. Your math scores are solid. GT has some essays that matter and ECs matter, is my understanding, GT uses holistic admissions not just stats. Georgia Tech accepts undergraduate students to the school as a whole although asks incoming freshman for a designated major. GT CS lately has a lot of OOS applicants and acceptances, I think almost HALF OOS students in CS, with more and more CA students discovering the school. If CS is your main interest, designate that, as it can be hard to transfer in if you designate a different major to start. You should be able to change majors into computer engineering from CS but look at the requirements very carefully. GT has a lot of credit requirements in all majors. Good luck!
@Ktgisgreat your scores are great so you may have a great chance, especially if you have a good ECs too. GT is just highly selective and selection varies each year so no absolute guarantee.
My son got deferred this year. He’s applying for CS. His scores were— old SAT 2280 (M800, R700, Wr780); ACT 35 (all 35s except 36 in Math and Science); and 11APs by end of senior year (four scores of 5 and one score of 4). He’s a NM finalist, 4.0gpa unweighted and in the running for top 1 out of 300+ seniors. He has great ECs but not spectacular. Heard a few kids with similar profile got deferred too this year.
So apply early and work on good ECs and community service, including summer volunteer. Good luck!
