A 33 on the ACT...

I know ivy school candidates often have scores much higher but still, I have to ask:

will a 33 on the ACT hurt my chances or help my chances of getting into an ivy?

it slightly low for HYP & about on target for the rest. For the most part, it won't help you or hurt you.

I'm going to say that a 33 makes you competitive. I think it's actually a little above midrange.

But SAT scores really only play a part in a tiny fraction of admissions. Good luck. :)

I have a similar SAT score...
I heard that some schools have a preference for SAT instead of ACT, should I send my SAT instead, or does it really not matter?

it probably won't hurt to send it; check a score conversion table and see which one give a better score--probably they'll use both scores, as the tests aren't identical

Actually, I have a 2160... the conversion for a 33 seems to be around a 2200

My father keeps telling me not to send my 2160, but yet I'm skeptical of his advice, I think I perhaps should send it...

ACT:33
M 31
E 32
S 34
R 33

SATI: 2160
M 730
W 760
V 670

I was thinking that I should send both because where my scores lack in the ACT, the SAT kind of makes up for. I did bad on verbal for the SAT, but good on writing and ok on math. I did bad on the writing and math for the ACT, but did good on Verbal. So, maybe I should send both?

SATII
MIIC 800
BioE 770
USH 650

Also, here are my SATII scores. I'm a bit confused on what to do. If I send the SATII scores, my SATI scores are also seen, so it doesn't really matter whether or not I use my SATI (I think). Also, should I send my SATII scores where they're not needed? The 800 and the 770 on the mathIIC and the biology E are good, but the 650 certainly doesn't look good on my app...

Also, here are my previous ACT scores from november:

ACT:29
M 35
E 33
S 25
R 25

Another question, should I send both my ACT scores from november and december? I did well on math and english on the november one, but slacked on the december one...

Summary of questions:
-Should I send both ACT and SATI (do they complement eachother?)?
-Should I send my SATII scores where they're not needed? (650 will hurt)
-Should I send both ACT scores, or just my best?

So here are the combination choices, which should I send?:
a.) Just ACT
b.) ACT+SATII
c.) ACT+SAT
d.) ACT+SAT+SATII
e.) ACT+nACT+SAT
f.) ACT+nACT+SAT+SATII

This is a hard question, but please answer... even if you don't really have the answers. I've asked before, but this kind of LONGpost question seems to kill the topic. No one seems to want to take the time to answer these long questions (now the topic will crash and burn).

sat scores are all sent together. i suggest sending your higher act score only, as you're more well rounded. sat scores will be sent, i think the 800 2c will make up for the "lower" act math score. and the 650 might not be too bad, especially if you dont' plan to be a history major =). If you're going to send sat scores, i think you should put all your scores, as admissions will see them all.

Summary of questions:

-Yes, send both. A 2160 & 2200 are comparable, plus you got a 1490 M+V. Since the scores are similar, I don't think it'll hurt to send both, as scoring well on both tests can be seen as worse than scoring well on one.
-Yes, send the SATII scores. Your SATII's are high, higher than both your SATI & ACT. The US could be higher, but most schools are only looking at your top 2 scores anyway. For the schools that ask for 3, they probably require 3 so you'll be stuck regardless.
-NO! Just send the best ACT score. They know you are good at math, esp. from the SATI & SATII Math scores. It's not worth showing them that you previously scored extremely poorly (relatively) on HALF of the test.

alright, thanx, I'm suprised at the quick posts
But I still need more replies!

and also, please note that my M+V SATI is 1400, not 1490....

oh oops sorry about that. you were sneaky about putting that super high writing score before the verbal!

anyway, I still say send it, but now it has become debatable. lol

i still say send both; in my opinion your sat's aren't "bad" enough to make or break admission
