so, a 780 on IIc is in the 84th percentile, wow, how many did i get wrong to deserve this?????
should i retake it again for 800?

i got a 760 and retook it this january. i think i got 800 or 790 this time.

however, you're near 800 already. do not waste you time. unless you think you can pull off an 800 without extra studying. (you screwed up this time)

800 math iic would be easy to attain with a bit of study from your simple pre-calculus course. So, I would say go for it once more; 780 in math iic isn't that good. Maybe I'm being biased but, if you think you can get 800, go for it.

god, 780 not good? Macro, you've gotta chill out man, no joke. he did better than 84% of the kids, i'd say that's pretty respectable given the caliber of the talented math students who take that test.

I wonder what the average difference is between the test scores of the math SAT I and IIC, of course from the people who took IIC. 0-50, 0-100 points less on the SAT?

the extra 20 points will mean exactly nothing to adcoms, retake only if you think you can be a 4000 kid, i.e., 2400 on new SAT and two 800's on SATII's; don't waste your time or money. work on ec's instead

that's what i though bluebayou, and to thejuiceisblack, plz note MacroKim is mostly likely an asian student, many of us feel a 800- in math SAT is not very good, i had received a 800M in SAT I, but only a 780 IIc, however, i didn't have time to prep for IIc, it's been hectic. so i'll live with it, plus, no $ and time.

lol! newbyreborn u r my hero! lol

i got 780 on IIC, good enough, no1 is gunna reject you b/c u got 780 instead of 800... get real. if its a matter of personal pride, sure go ahead and try to get 800x10.. w/e i dont care, i doubt the adcoms like to see people get 800x10 w/ no EC's...

go out and have some fun for once.. lol

I've heard that anything over a 750 gets a thumbs up and a nod from the adcom. Remember, the adcoms will only see your score, not your percentile.

canned I agree with your general statement but the adcoms will know the general percentile of each grade, that 660 is about avg and so on.

I got a 760. I was hoping for 800, but I think it's a waste of time and money to restudy everything, especially when I could be doing so much in what I love to do at school and hang out with friends instead of stay at home reading math textbooks. Wouldn't you rather take the time to develop skills in something you'll want later on (aka, people skills, communication, learning about how something works) instead of learn how to simplify a trig expression?

This is not a dip**** slacker offering you this advice either.

NOT true. The adcoms do see your percentile.

I got a 760. Who cares anyway?

780 is 86th percentile????????
wow that is only 20 oints from being perfect
how do the do the percentiles on IIC
do they rank by how many questions u got right or just ur score???
i hope an 800 is still 99th percentile regardless of how many questions u got wrong

Correction, 800 is 90th percentile. 10% of IIC test takers get an 800, so thats why the percentiles are so skewed.

lol thats pretty funny
i c now y its 86th percentile
i hope i end up making an 800
the test must be pretty easy for advanced math students

If 10% of the students get 800, yeah, that means the test is a little too easy, and the curve is all skewed, and consequently why a 780 on this test may be detrimental to you.

the adcoms are not going to scrutinize over every single point. 780 probably won't a difference. plenty of the kids go in with 800s. if u have that time just to get 20 points up, spend it on ECAs or something. at least that sets you apart a little bit more from all the other applicants.
