This year I decided to take AP Environmental Science because the course seemed interesting to me...I was never much of a science person, but wanted to take a class that was more theory-based after three years of lab science and, as someone interested in the environment and environmental policy, I though I would really enjoy this class. The teacher at my school, however, knows the class is considered "Easy" by AP standards and decided he didn't want it to be, so he goes out of his way to make the class difficult, including pop quizzes on stuff we had never been assigned, etc. I'm barely hanging on to a B and was wondering how badly this will reflect upon me during the college admission process? I'm applying this year, and I know I can't have this explained away by my counselor, so I'm very, very worried. Thanks so much for any help!

APs are generally regarded all equally, despite their true nature. An admission officer might consider AP Physics and AP Calculus above things like AP Human Geography, but generally AP Environ. is still considered not an easy AP. Colleges dont rank APs, they consider them all the same, with just slight instinctive reactions for bc calc/physics.

The B is ok, but B's are never good. Try hard to get it up I'd suggest (assuming you're looking at top 30 colleges). However, if it doesn't work out, it's still ok since it's an AP. If it was a B in an honors course or regular course then that would be bad, but don't worry about it. Just try hard, but dont fret if you dont get it up

Uh. It definitely depends on what schools you're applying to. Unless you're applying to an extremely selective school, you'll be fine. Getting Bs in APs/Hnrs classes are fine unless you're trying to get into HYPS etc.

Since when has a B in an honors or AP course been bad?

Silly rabbits... A B or two is acceptable even for HYPSM.

What about a C in a killer AP class but As in everything else?

Is it Physics C??

I'm not looking at Ivies...some schools I'm looking at are definitely more selective, but despite a couple of B/B+'s here and there, I'm ranked very high in my class so I was never really worried. I just assumed this would look really bad since a lot of people make snotty comments about APES being an easy AP.

lol the environmental science AP test is probably one of the hardest ones even though the class itself is a joke.

Nope, Art History, I know pretty much nobody takes it, but at my school it's considered THE hardest.
