A bad online class

Hello, I'm top of my class, normally have straight a's and take rigorous courses, got accepted into state college University of Maine because my SAT's weren't high enough to apply for ivies + no subject tests, etc. Basically I'm in an online computer science class and it is awful. I have hardly learned any java coding and it keeps getting harder and harder to stay on track. Had 99 and 95 first 2 quarters, now have a 75 and it's not going up anytime soon. Was able to stay on track through online tutorials but now it's ridiculous and I don't even plan on taking AP exam and my college major doesn't have the class anyway. Should I drop the class? Will it hurt my scholarship or result in possible rescind? I know it's not a very prestigious school and it shouldn't hurt too bad but I don't want dropping this class to have any negative consequences because it is completely useless. I want to be a computer engineer, maybe switch to other majors too if I don't like it but this class is not engineering or useful. I don't care about a withdraw hurting my honors or gpa because valedictorian is just nail polish and I'm already in this school with best merrit they offer. Should I stick the class out painfully? Sorry if this is wrong section, and thanks for responses. Would you drop the class? Very unorganized I know but thanks for reading.

The class is AP Computer Science A
Teacher assigns work and makes us read book to understand which the book doesn't really tell you how to code at all.

Can you drop and just have no grade/credit or will it be an F?

It isn’t true that it has nothing to do with computer engineering. You have to learn some CS concepts and coding basics in that too.

If you can drop without it hurting your gpa, then drop. It not find a tutor. Fast. Then get back up to speed. It may help you in college. First choice though for me would be to drop if there were no bad repercussions.

It is time to see your guidance counselor to talk about dropping the online class. I would worry about the impact that this class is going to have on the rest of your grades for this semester.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll see what I can do about getting rid of the class because even if I spent a day understanding the work and working my butt off to catchup, I’d end up doing this every week and not actually learning anything but just doing it for the grade which I don’t want. My other grades are fine because I actually enjoy learning with teachers/lectures/other hands on activities rather than trying to blindly understand java through a textbook that expects prior knowledge. Hopefully I’ll get a withdraw pass which wouldn’t hurt as bad as a withdrawn fail.
