"A Beautiful Mind" is tonight's ABC movie (8pm eastern)

Does Nash teach undergrads?

I don't think he even teaches anything anymore

He's an emeritus professor.

So he doesn't even do research anymore?

The John Nash homepage seems to indicate that the Professor is still quite active at Princeton. People like that never retire. They are most content when challenging their intellect.

http://www.math.princeton.edu/jfnj/

It'd be cool to visit him though

i hope everyone realizes that there was a lot of artistic liberty taken in making the film and, as much as I enjoyed the movie, A Beautiful Mind is far from a biography

Yes... they failed to mention that he was divorced, had a child with another woman, and remarried after he won the Nobel. His schizophrenia is also purely auditory not both visual and auditory. It was far too romanticized, but that doesnt make it any less of a great movie.

A Beautiful Mind is my FAVORITE movie. I said it was my favorite under the Princeton supplemental, so I hope it gives them a sign that I am passionate for Princeton...wow meeting John Nash!

Part of it was filmed right outside my dorm in my quad, and in our college common room. Pretty cool. And John Nash indeed still works at Princeton (and i'm pretty sure he teaches also). He takes the Dinky to work every morning.

Not that Denzel Washington and Halle Berry are bad at acting, they are really good. Its just that Crowe did a better job than Washington that year.

Why did you post this, then? Why couldn't you just have said, "Crowe should have won?" Crowe's performance was inherently better by your statement; why did you have to add the extra lines?

Yeah...it was a great movie.

I read up on John Nash after seeing it...interesting person

I love his professor's rec. letter from CIT to gain admission to Princeton:

"This man is a genius"

One line that said it all.....

Actually, just having his name on the envelope of your rec letter would probably gain you admission to CIT. :)

My Pton interviewer (who was an incredibly intelligent and interesting person i might add) sincerely told me that when he was studying at Princeton, John Nash would regularly bump into him and his friend and acknowledge them both.

This 2006 page had the following entry:

"The movie spans Nash's life beginning in 1940 at Princeton to the early nineties. The movie fascinated and enlightened me about his life. Nash never knew then just how important his Game Theory would become. He is now considered the Father of Modern Game Theory. Nash is still teaching at Princeton today.A marvellous movie, an inspiring journey."
