So here is the deal, the main problem that this thread is about is housing.

See, I got admitted to Spring semester back in February. I requested to change to Fall and found out last week that they approved my change of entry term.

Apparently now I am in the waiting list for housing. However, I would still like to room with a friend of mine from my school (he was admitted to Fall originally, he did his housing contract in which you choose your top 3 preferences and all), Does anyone know what I should do to still room with him?

The UF dpt. of Housing is closed on weekends so I just wanted to know what you all think for now.

From the way I understand it, housing for those who choose to be roommates is chosen by the student with the worst priority housing number. So, if you wanted to live with your friend, he’d have to agree to have his housing based on your priority number, which is the worse one as it’s “waiting list.”

Maybe you could just live off campus? It’s probably not too late to snag an apartment for a lot less than you’d pay on campus with a significantly higher quality of life.

I’d put down any three dorms that sound like what you might want, but I bet that if you’re on the waiting list … you’ll probably just get what might come available, regardless of your list. The only exception being if you happened to “hit” the slot they have available, in which case they could accomodate from your list. So … I wouldn’t stress; you’ll most likely get what ever comes up after everyone’s had their choice, assuming there’s anything left. How far down the list are you? Can they tell you that?

the well i originally paid my $25 early mid Novermber, which is when about 40-50% of the people had already paid,so im somewhere above the middle 50%

but the thing is since i got my term changed i got put on the waiting list

how do you know you’re on the waitlist for housing? i was also originally admitted for spring and than recently found out i was admitted for fall. the next day i got an e-mail from housing telling me to apply and pick my top 3 choices. it didn’t say anything about a waiting list though, so should I assume i’m okay?

broward is the most freshman dense living area, and rawlings and jennings are right next door. if you’re getting a traditional double, those should probably be your top 3, unless you want to live on the west side of campus for whatever reason. i think you’ve looked into beaty, so fit that in wherever. apartments are nice if you want privacy, but thats because they’re more isolated and private.
