This is more of a venting/please-feel-my-pain/please-help post. So I apologize beforehand. I’ll get straight to the point.

I sent off my recommendations back in December (four of them I had to send myself and one my teacher sent himself…excessive I know, but all really amazing recs). I tracked my application and it stated that I was missing my 2nd teacher rec and my counselor rec. So I sent them all (by mail again).

Fast forward to last week, I receive an e-mail telling me it was still missing those two things and that I needed to have them in by Monday. So, last Friday I had one of my teachers and my counselor send their recs by e-mail directly to the e-mail address provided by Barnard. They both sent them off that same day (I know because they both put my name in the CC column of the e-mail so I received it too. I even had them spell out the e-mail address they sent them to to make sure. Both matched.).

Now onto yesterday. I received another e-mail telling me they still don’t have the recs and…that I’m also missing two SAT subjects (the first e-mail didn’t say this). Yeah. That wouldn’t bother me except I took they ACT and they have received my score for that (it says so in the tracking system). It also says that I have until this Friday to get my stuff in to them.

I don’t know what’s going on. Game Plan: I’ve had my teacher and counselor print off the material today. I’m going to have my mom fax it off tomorrow (I’m going to have her fax it twice too). Then if it’s still not up when I get home from school (4:00 pm) I’m going to call the office before it closes (5:00 pm).

I really, really, really (x infinity) would love to attend Barnard. So “A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.”

Don’t wait. Call the office ASAP and tell them, calmly and nicely, of course, all you have done already and are still doing to make sure they get everything. I am sure there is some disconnect somewhere and they will help you resolve it. At the very least, it would be good for you to take time to contact them personally about this.

It’s quite likely that somewhere along the line they either created two separate files for you, or there is some other applicant with a very similar name, and stuff that is being sent in is going to to the wrong file.

So Churchmusicmom is right – you need to call them to to straighten this out. You need to work with them to figure out where the material you have already sent has gone, if not to your application file.

My name is incredibly odd (includes two first names and an Arabic first first name). So I’m not sure if the separate file thing is the issue.

I called right when I got home from school today. They said that the faxes are not yet in their systems (:/) and they told me to ignore the SAT Subject Tests mention since they did in fact receive my ACT scores. She told me to e-mail the GA Admissions woman. Then I stated that my teacher and counselor sent their letter directly to the e-mail address she gave me. She told me that it’s likely that they are sitting in her mailbox right now then.

This is a bit stressful. I’m actually going to check tomorrow (well today) during school. After mailing (twice), e-mailing, faxing (twice), and calling…I’m not sure what else I can do if it doesn’t show up tomorrow. Thanks for the help :)

The admissions offices pulled up my file with my first first name and last name only when I was on the phone. That’s also what I’ve been using for the college process.

The GA Admissions has not answered my e-mails yet, but I’m pretty sure that she is a busy woman right now.

I’m going to stay optimistic. My mom said she knows she got confirmations after she faxed each time. I know my teacher and counselor sent them off last week. I’m hoping (praying, wishing, believing, etc.) that it’s there they just haven’t put it in the system yet since they do state that during busy times (like before deadlines like this one) it takes awhile to process. I just wish I had a bit of reassurance.

Try not to worry too much. You have spoken directly to them about your concerns and they assured me that things are ok, right? This is their busiest time, and things just might not be entered into their online system yet…which is what she said, if fact, about the faxes, right? So you should be fine.

:) Yep, that’s what she told me. That the e-mails are probably in her mailbox and the faxes are probably there it’s just that they haven’t been entered yet.

I’m going to try and take a step back, but it’s nerve-wracking. Thanks.

Call them again and tell them about the e-mail and just let them know that you want to follow up with a verbal confirmation that they do, indeed, have the materials.

When my D applied to Barnard (she was waitlisted but not admitted), I had a lot of luck calling the different offices when needed. There was always someone who answered the phone who could understand the question and find the answer.

I applied ED and got in, and the website still says that they havent received my recs, ACT, or transcript. I talked to many people before I got my acceptance to straighten it out, but it looks like it is just a glitch in their website. I wouldnt worry about it! You have sent in your things multiple times, and I promise they will read them. They just have a backwards way of entering things into their computers.
good luck!!!

Thanks so much for the reassurance! It’s still blank as of right now.

Yesterday, I called again (to see if I could get confirmation of my items arriving) and explained the entire situation. She then referred me to the GA Admissions Officer (the same one I e-mailed and my teachers e-mailed). She was in a meeting so I left a message with my information (name, number, etc.).

That should be good. I was in the same boat as you when I was waiting to hear! I was emailing and calling, and they kept saying, wait a week and if it is not up by then, call back. I finally got on the phone with my admissions rep and she was also confused as to why the website was not updating. she had all of my materials, and in her computer it said that the website had been updated.
if your admissions person doesnt call you back in the next couple of days, I would try again (either by email or phone). im sure they have your stuff, its just that the website is glitchy!

Thank you so much! I figure that that is the cause at this point (well I hope so at least). I’ll wait until Wednesday to call if I don’t hear back (I haven’t yet). It’s just getting so much closer to the 25th!

I just received an e-mail and you all were right. She told me they had to catch up on their faxes, but my application is complete. Thank you guys so, so much! :D
