A bit worried about the UCs

I’ve already submitted my applications to the UCs but I’m a bit worried that maybe I didn’t apply to any safeties… Can someone rate me and tell me if I should be worried? I applied to six UCs (Irvine, Davis, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Los Angeles and Berkeley).

[Extracurricular Activities]

-I am member of the Academic Decathlon team at my school. If it makes any difference, our school makes it to state almost all the time.

-During my nutrition and lunch periods, I tutor my peers in our school’s study center for community service hours. I’m not sure if it makes a difference but I chose to work for hours rather than payment.

-I am a part of an environmentalist group/community service group called the Pacific American Volunteer Association (PAVA). It’s mainly run by students and I’ve held a few leadership roles in the organization. I’ve been awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

-I’ve been playing the traditional Korean drums for almost three years now. I’ve performed twice at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood as well as at other minor events with students from the UCLA Korean drumming club.

-Practiced Kendo during my sophomore and junior years. However, I had to stop since other things have been getting in the way.

Intended Major: Biochemistry or any biology related major. Interested in a pre-medicine program.

Ah…biochem..hot major. D:

Hm, I think you have a good chance at Irvine, Davis, and Santa Barbara.
Your GPA will make the top 3 hard, but you make up for it with everything else.
That’s a tough one, good luck.

Since you aren’t a US citizen, you’ll be a considered an international. Are you sure you don’t have at least permanent resident status? If not, then all the UCs are going to be difficult. Given your GPA, Berkeley and UCLA would be nearly impossible; UCSD very difficult; and UCSB/UCD/UCI somewhat difficult, though less so. But if you’re really an international, they’re all most likely reaches; you didn’t apply to any safeties (even if you were an in-state US citizen, none of those are safeties for you), and to be honest, international applicants cannot usually consider any UC a safety, given the competition for admission among CA students.

I’m actually going to be considered a California resident since I’ve attended a high school in California for more then three years as well as many other factors. God bless California (: Friendly bills hooray. Anyways.. ah I see. So I should be worrying?

Your UC GPA is calculated wrong recalculate it

Los Angeles and Berkeley: reach
San Diego: slight reach
Irvine/Davis/Santa Barbara: Match

your uc gpa is 3.5 and weighted (10th-11th) gpa is 3.68. LA, Cal, and SD is going to be really hard. Frankly, I don’t see you getting in at LA and Cal, but you might have a slight chance at SD. I agree with others that irvine/davis/SB will be match for you given your scores.

Ah thanks. Does match mean that I have a fair chance or does that mean it’s still a challenge to get in so I should be worrying? Also, will I have any chance for Boston University?

Match means that your stats/scores are good enough, so it’s a fair chance.

GPA is the most important factor; a 3.5 UC GPA is quite a bit below the average for UCSB, UCD, and UCI (by about .4 points).
