Guys, I think at this point I'm pretty much screwed. I assumed that I would be able to go over the limit for the "Why Brown" essay , as you can with most schools. However, I put in my essay that I worked for countless hours on and it says, "Cannot exceed 1500 characters" and chops off a huge piece of my essay. I am way over the limit (at about 2700 characters) Why does it count spaces as characters? Is there a way to get around this limit? I poured my heart into this essay, and now its going to be completely crippled. Can someone please help?

Wow, I wrote this essay in a matter of 15 minutes! Maybe mine just really sucked- I just tried to be very candid about why Brown is for me. AFAIK, most of the other people on this forum were too- I don't think anyone tried to be too creative (because of the character space). And also AFAIK, there isn't any way to get around the limit- maybe if you do the application by hand, it's possible, but then again, I haven't looked at the paper app. Either way, I really hope everything works out for you. Best of luck!

Cut down on superfluous language. Eliminate sentences that are useless and aren't supported by other sentences. Use a smaller font if you can.

I just submitted hand written apps, its the only way to go

Haha...this sucks. I guess I'll just end up trying to use this for a different college, even though it won't make much sense. No way I'm wasting this entire thing. By the way, I exaggerated on the "countless hours" thing; it was more like two or three hours, still too much though. I guess this is what I get for making assumptions and waiting until the last minute.

Edit- O ya, thanks for the replies.

that really stinks... you either might have to lose one of your major ideas to cut your character usage almost in half.... or maybe try paper apps and snail mail if you still can
