a bunch of questions about classes

I'm taking calc II over the summer at a CC b/c its closer to my home, and I need it for physics and such. Anyways, will it not matter to medical schools that DON'T require math in the first place?

Also is it ok not to take microbiology and genetics? Does the material from general biology sufficent enough for the MCATs?
And which course is most useful for the MCAT? Mammilian Physiology, neurophysiology, or biochemistry?
Thanks

Oh and is it recommended to take biochemistry and physical chemistry at the same time (junior year). I'm afraid that if I take pchem in my senior year and fail, then i'll have to take it over again and prolong my graduation.

not it is not recommended take them at the same time. if you are interested in med school be sure to take biochemistry. I do not think pchem is needed for med school, however it is for a chemistry degree.

1.) There will be some that will reject you flat out for this (require math, don't accept CC credits). You can imagine that the rest won't be very happy. Of course, it won't be an automatic rejection from those schools.

2.) Of course it's "okay". The MCAT does not have any formal requirements about what you must take before they'll let you sit for the exam. Material from those two courses shows up on the MCAT, if that's what you're asking. Mammalian physiology is more important.

3.) As MD points out -- why are you taking p-chem at all?

4.) And even if you must take pchem, then obviously what you take simultaneous with that depends very heavily on how bright you are and how hard your school is -- questions that we can't answer for you.

thanks for the reply. Im a biochemistry major so i have to take pchem unfortunatly. And as for the math requirements, I have to take calc over the summer in order to prepare for physics in the fall, so will med schools accept multivariable calculus and differential equations/statistics instead? (i'll def take those in my senior year though)

stupid question. Of course they'll take em. But they take non calc based math like statistics right? Or can I not take any more calc based math and fill the math requirements with say, history of mathamatics or something like that? Or I could always just apply to schools that don't require math i.e. stanford
Since I went to a community college for a half a semester and took gen bio and gen chem, the bio requirements can filled with a LL bio such as cell bio and an UL course like mammilian physiology taken at a university right? And the gen chem I took at the CC can be replaced by biochemistry right?

1.) They will take statistics.
2.) They probably will not accept History of Math.
3.) Don't ever restrict the pool of schools to which you apply.
4.) Bio: provided they both have labs.
5.) Chem: Yes.
6.) Why do you have to take math at the CC? Can't you take it at a normal school over the summer?

its cheaper and its 5 minutes from my house as opposed to taking it at UMD where its more expensive and I waste two hours driving.

They don't have any off-campus housing?

im poor and I can't afford it :( I checked, theres an apartment at the University which costs 800$ a month and you have to sign a lease for a whole year.

Specifically I was thinking that because so many people have to sign year-long leases, and some of them surely don't want to spend the summer at home, there must be a way to sublet. It's a question of supply and demand.
