A C+ in Calculus BC ugh.

Hey everyone,

based on your experience (if u r a freshman in college or something) or someone related to admissions, can you tell me if that will completely shatter my dream to some colleges like Duke or Brown University? I got a C+ in my first trimester. Since 9th grade, I never got more than two Bs until this trimester when I got one B-, one B, one C+ and two As.
plz help!

btw, this is the only grade that the college is goinng to see in my transcript and it also applies to Regular Decision..since our school is in trimester system...2nd trimester ends in early March. So, yeah..is it possible to send in grades again and show my improvement in Calculus which is definitely going to happen this trimester for sure.

anyone? plz?

not everyone will "get" calculus and colleges know this. calc bc is a course that many strong students struggle with.

Ah, sucks.

a C? yeah, that pretty much sucks

Nothing is "shattered" per se. Just remember that at the most selective schools, your application will be competing with others that attained straight As or something close to that.

But students with perfect grades or test scores are rejected all the time, while students with somewhat "average" numbers are admitted. Try to distinguish yourself in multiple ways and maybe explain your low grade in an honest way (in other words, don't make excuses).

Good luck.

I doubt Duke or Brown admit very many students who have demonstrated that they cannot "get" calculus.
