A "C" on Mid-Year Report due to being ill? Please help!

Hi guys I'm applying to Columbia and a number of other colleges. This question applies to them all.

So during the second quarter I was sick and missed a huge amount of school. I would be in some days then out the next. I brought in doctor's notes, and explained my absences to my teachers. However now it's looking like I'll get, at best, a C in AP AB Calculus :( I've tried extremely hard, but my grade doesn't reflect my effort. Even the teacher sympathizes with me (though not enough to help me bring it up apparently)

Anyway I was wondering if I ask my counselor to make a note of how ill I've been when sending in my Mid-Year report, do you think that will help my chances? I might also get a B in Chemistry.

So far my grades look like:
AP Psych - A
AP Lit - A
AP Studio Art - A
AP AB Calc - C
IB French 7 - A
AP Chem - B or A

Should I ask my counselor do this? Or maybe an extra recommendation from my mother explaining my situation? Any advice right now would mean a lot to me.
My GPA unweighted/weighted as of right now:
3.92/4.55

I can answer any other questions

Ask your guidance counselor to send an update to these colleges about your situation. Most teenagers cannot think let alone take an exam when they are sick with illnesses as simple as the flu. Admissions officers definitely understand that these situations are out of your control.
