I had all A's sophomore year except for a "C" in Algebra II second semester. Does that kill my chances of getting into an Ivy League?

that would be a negatory.

yes.........

It doesn't kill your chances - you won't be instantly rejected. But keep in mind that Ivies ultimately turn down countless students with straight A's, so there had better be something else on your application that grabs their attention. Remember, they're looking for reasons to reject applicants.

Make sure you excel in other things. Keep your grades up. I know how you feel. Dartmouth is my dream school but I got a "C" in first semester of Algebra freshman year. Do great in other things and give them a reason to keep you around. Good Luck!

Umm...

I thought they only get to see what's on your transcript, meaning that a bad grade for one semester will not kill you assuming that it was a 2 semeter course and you brought the grade up..

yeah but some schools use semester grades when calculating GPA and dont average the two semester together. This system, and the quarter system somewhat, are more indicative of your academic success in a class.

To answer the OP, this really isnt a kiss of death and it doesnt kill your chances.
