Will my chances to Columbia be destroyed if I have one C? I don't have one, and I've gotten straight A's so far, but I have FST (Math) finals tomorrow and, unless a miracle happens or I convince my teacher to take pity on me and give me a B, I'm afraid that's the grade I'm looking at. Will that leave me with a 0% chance at Columbia? Does anyone know of someone who was accepted to Columbia, or any Ivy League/top college with a C? I'm not going to major in anything Math/Science-related; quite the opposite.

My friend got a C in math that was accepted also plenty of B's

Really? That sounds inspiring! I apologize for the dramatics, but I'm seriously on the verge of tears because of this. Anyone else?

You only hear of the exceptions...how many students with C's do you know that didn't get accepted into Columbia? Tons. How many with A+'s? Even more. I know it's meant to give you hope, but try your best for at least a B.

Why don't you, like, study instead of posting the same thing in two different threads?

Why don't some people stop trying to make assumptions and instead try to identify with someone who asked for help? I'm sorry if some of you don't understand what it's like to struggle all your life on a certain subject, no matter how many HOURS they spend studying it, but there's no need to sound condescending when someone only asked for advice. Consider yourselves lucky.
Also, I made a seperate thread for this because no one was aswering me on the other thread, and it sure worked, didn't it? Predator, I know that there will be many with those A+'s, that is why I was worried. Trust me, I will try to get a B, so don't think that I haven't been trying.

Sorry to be mean, but do you realize how ridiculous it is to think that getting one C automatically disqualifies you from Columbia?

Your'e not mean, you are just firmly in the real world, while most CC'ers like me are in Ivy League/top college land, and it doesn't help when people like Predator make you feel like you higher chance of getting stuck by lightening than getting into Columbia. Well, if anyone would like to know I just took the test, and I will find out my grade later on tonight. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, though.

Hey, guys, I'm banking that this fellow gets a C.
Hedge your bets.

Well since the test has been taken...what's done is done. All I can say is I hope you did well. And if Columbia decides to accept you, I don't think that possible C will stand in their way.

Good luck, anyway :)

wat happens if one makes C in 1semester and A in 2semester and have B as in total year?

is it bad enough to have C that A in 2sem doesn't make up

or will admission not really care

No worries! =) I got a B in the class, so I hope you changed your bet, kwu.

Congratulations. Shouldn't have worried though because a C would just have made you mortal, and there is nothing wrong with that.

ColumbiaLover- Are you referring to senior year grades or previous years? If it's previous years, all you have to do is look at your GPA and see if it matches Columbia's requirements. If it's senior year...the colleges have no way of knowing your second semester before decisions come out so that A wouldn't make a difference.

However, I doubt a C would cause Columbia to reject if everything else is fine.

Olive_Tree- Congrats ;) One must have faith in oneself. Haha.

Yes, all throughout I never stopped believing. That just sounded so cliche! ;) Thanks to all who provided helpful advice and words of encouragement!
