I know lots of you give lots of input on this board, so I have a question for you. If you're on a lot, you know I have a son up there now, and was a student myself back in the 80's--but I have a hunch my son is going to answer the question in whatever way he knows I want to hear, and, as I was a student during the Gerry Faust era, we all did not experience the same brand of football you are experiencing! (In fact, I think we are due some sort of refund!)

In any case, just how wild does the campus get with this incredible resurgent Irish football program in an age of cable sports and Internet? I know five or six games a year taxed even our considerable post-adolescent abilities to over-indulge in festivities...and that was for a team the Chicago Tribune sports guy labeled "masters of the come from ahead loss".

But seven home games? In the Charlie Weis era? Just how wild does the campus get these days? Are you kids still able to get any schoolwork done on weekends? How many people invade the campus these days?

Also, is it true, as my son has told me, that everybody heads off campus for parties these days, so the South Bend police can invade and arrest them all?
Have the students yet figured out not to walk into these traps? Are the police standing down now that the year is in full swing? In my day, they brought in big police dogs to scare us away and shoo us off, but they didn't actually arrest students...

Ah, Irish football is SO MUCH BETTER when the team is WINNING!
