I am hoping to audition for an a cappella choir this fall, and I was wondering if anyone knows which ones are more prestigious. I definitely want to shoot for one of the better-known ones...

Okay so I have no clue.

But I would love to do this as well. Haha.

vocaholics and mass transit are the top ones, I believe.

Are there any co-ed singing groups?

i don’t know which are better known than others but i have friends in the mixtapes and in n’harmonics too.

I wish we got paid to sing in choirs like these… that would be sweet.

Hey, there’s a ton of great A Cappella groups at NYU-I’m the business manager for the Vocaholics, we’re all-male and have a great time every year. We’re a bunch of geeky fun dudes who enjoy singing everything from barbershop to indie rock! We barely really do pop, just songs that are newer indie rock, classics, and anything we fancy really. You can check out our website at vocaholicsnyu.com or shoot us an e-mail at vocaholics@gmail.com for more info if you’re interested :)

There are tons of other groups too on campus if we don’t strike you as something you’d like to get involved in. Here’s a list:

Co-Ed
APC Rhythm
N’Harmonics
The Mixtapes
Union Squares (brand new, were on “hiatus” might still be)
Shine (Christian music)
Ani V’Ata (“Jewish” A Cappella group)

All-Male
The Vocaholics
Mass Transit

All-Female
The Cleftomaniacs

e-mail vocaholics@gmail.com if you need contact info for any of the groups. Good luck!
