A Chance at CAS RD?

I so desperately wanted to apply to NYU ED; it's been my #1 choice for my entire life. Sadly, my parents wouldn't sign the ED contract because they don't want me to get locked into finaid that I can't afford :'(. Does anyone think I have a shot RD? My majors will be Politics and Journalism with a minor in Art History.

nyu gives finaincial aid preference for ED, and NYU gives horrible financial aid even with that...

ur SAT score is gunna hurt u, they have over a 1400 sat average now somehow.... id say 30-40%

25% man i am sorry but...RD? no way

Crud, NYU better step it up with their financial aid packages. How could they have over a billion dollar endowment and still manage to be so stingy? By the way I hope you get in, my stats are similar, but I applied ED.

xander, I won't give you a % chance of you getting in because NO ONE can really. :) So, apply and take your chances just like everyone else because your stats certainly will put you in the running. Here's what the Admissions office says on financial aid so it looks like you made the right decision to apply R.D.

"Early Decision students at NYU receive a financial aid award equal to whatever they would have received had they been admitted regular decision. However, applying to NYU (or any other school) as an Early Decision candidate does not allow you to compare financial aid offers among schools. If the amount of financial aid you receive will be the PRIMARY factor in your choice of college, applying for Early Decision at NYU (or at any college) may not be appropriate for you."

There is no preference given to financial aid offers for E.D. applicants over R.D., just to clear that up. NYU, unfortunately, is not known for its generosity in f/a. The average award is in the vicinity of $17,000 but the large majority of students get far less than that. Scholarship opportunities vary, as well, among the different NYU colleges. So, finish up that application and best of luck to you!

I would add, to all of you who are asking what your chances are at NYU, please do not put much stock in the % answers you're getting from some of the kids here. They have no idea what your chances are and, in fact, should not be making these predictions. They haven't even arrived at NYU yet! If you're in the range of what NYU looks for in an admitted applicant, then you have a chance.

lol she is right. i really have no idea.

everyone has 50/50 chance. right? i am right on this one.
