A CHANCE THREAD!!! hahahahahhahaha

Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, UPenn, Dartmouth, Cornell, UVA, McGill, UToronto

UW GPA : 3.94
W GPA : 4.3
SAT I : 2110 (770CR, 660M, 680W), 2270 (760CR, 750M, 760W)
SAT II : Math II - 700, US History - 750, Lit - 760
APs : Calc BC (5) US History (5) English Language (5) Chemistry (4) World (3)

Major Awards: 1st place at regionals science olympiad, 2nd at states (with some individual first place medals), runner up at Districts debate and regionals qualifier and local tournament awards, all-district band participant for 3 years, selected as a delegate for some conference that I won't specify, Superior ratings at solo ensembles, state honor band.

Major ECs : Marching Band (state honor band), LD debate, Science Olympiad, Red Cross, MUN, Mu Alpha Theta (VP), an outside-of-school orchestra (principal clarinetist)

Volunteering : mostly with red cross; this past summer I interned for a lawyer and helped at-risk teens at a community center.

Recs : 1 from math teacher (decent, probably) 1 from US history teacher (good, probably) and possibly a supplement from my debate coach.

Essays : Very good, IMO.

What I think are my weak points: SAT II scores (though the ones I have listed aren't too bad, I have 3 other ones that are below 700)...

What I think are my strong points: None.

Chances? thanks...

I think you’re in at UVA, McGill and UToronto. HYP are reaches for everybody. I think you have a fair shot at the other ivies. Probably in at Cornell.

Yale is my first choice and Columbia is actually my second choice.

Oh my, a chance thread?! I’ve never seen one. Ivies are toss-ups. UVA is a reach, especially if out of state. McGill is a slight reach. Toronto, though, good chance :)

Chance me also? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/802020-texas-has-bison-but-vermont-has-ski-slopes-where-shall-i-end-up.html</a></p>

Harvard,- High Reach
Yale, - High Reach
Princeton, -High Reach
Columbia, - Reach
UPenn, - Reach
Dartmouth, -Reach
Cornell, - Low Reach
UVA, -Match
McGill, (see below)
UToronto (see below)

Unless you are a Canadian citizen, since these universities are funded by t he Canadian government, these schools are HIGHLY selective in picking international students. And the tuition is very high (20k-30k a year for internationals). Personally, I would stay in America if you’re not a citizen of Canada.

Chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/818816-chance-me-recommend-me.html</a></p>

I am actually a canadian citizen.

"I am actually a canadian citizen. " Ahh in that case, then disregard my comment. You have an excellent chance being accepted.

Bump…? ? ? ?

Though you are going to have some stiff competition with the rest of the international pool, you are definitely competitive. IMO, you WILL gain admission into one or more of the ivies, McGill, UVA, and Toronto  Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/816473-chance-aa-female-elite-schools-updated-stats.html</a> <–Also include Yale in the chancing…

although I have Canadian citizenship, I don’t know if I will be considered an international to American schools. Most schools that I called told me that they categorize applicants by region and/or school.

Harvard - High Reach
Yale - High Reach
Princeton -High Reach
Columbia - Reach
UPenn - Reach
Dartmouth - Low Reach
Cornell - Low Reach
UVA -Match
McGill - No idea
UToronto - No idea

when you say “reach” for upenn and columbia, do you mean that in a “these are reaches for everybody” sort of way, or am I really far off ?

Harvard: high reach
Yale: med/high reach
Princeton: high reach
Columbia: med reach
UPenn: med reach
Dartmouth: med/high reach
Cornell: low reach
UVA: match
McGill: idk
UToronto: idk

thanks for chancing me

Bumpp…???

we really can’t tell you much… your stats and ec’s are pretty solid, nothing bad enough to make you an automatic rejection, yet nothing good enough to give you a real hook. good luck.

Even if you were an American citizen, with your statistics you wouldn’t have a problem getting into UToronto. Since you are a Canadian citizen, I’d have to say that you will get into McGill as well. As for the Ivies: Your statistics are all in the ranges, but your EC’s are kinda weak. However, try to make yourself stick out and maybe you’ll get in.

Chance back please. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/821417-final-chances-thread-please-respond.html</a></p>

motion - the ECs I have listed here are the ones going on the application.

There aren’t enough spaces to fit all my ECs on the application so I didn’t bother putting them up here. I’m giving you what I’m giving the colleges.

A lot of the chance threads seem to list a whole bunch of ECs but I’ve always wondered how they are going to fit all that? a resume? should I attach one also?
