A Chance to Gauge Each Other

Clueless21,

I have a 3.6, same SAT as you, and a ton of EC but I’m nervous as well. Not that many people with the same stats have been getting in thus far.

Fingas- you will definitely get in. I applied business too an I’m still waiting

Thanks. I really appreciate your feedback  I know that quite a few people have been rejected from Penn State in general so I think it is good that I have not heard back yet. I will be checking MyPennState every day until January 31st. Penn State is my number one school and I am very anxious to attend! I hope all of us on College Confidential get into our dream colleges!

Clueless 21, according to the bubble chart you are in the yellow. That means you will definitely get into Penn State, but your application will undergo additional review if you want to be accepted to University Park instead of a branch campus. You have good extracurricular activities. Your activities combined with your personal statement (if you filled it out) could get you the acceptance that you want. I think you have a very good shot. Good luck!

Fingas-I’m in the same boat! It’s my number one and i don’t wanna go anywhere else! Here’s me:

3.96/5.0
1840 sat
Sister is a current student
Yes to summer
15 honors/ap
Lots of ECs

I am not an admissions officer and I hope no one is offended by my post, but I know that I was glad to get feedback so here are my personal opinions:

lionlover- I feel like we have a lot in common. If I’m right, I believe that you know that you will get in to UP in the fall. You are just freaking out by posting tons of things (as am I) because you want reassurance. You are in the blue. You will get in. I just hope we get our letters soon because I am borderline obsessive and very tired of checking my status.
burdman- definite yes
cdhs34- I think your impressive activities related to your major will help you get in. Your stats are within the mid 50% range, so I would say yes.
ntham- you are between the yellow and blue on the bubble chart, but your SAT subject test scores are very high so they could give you the boost that you need. I think you will get in.
eromano- your GPA is very low so you might want to consider a branch campus and check summer session for UP.
pvjc- You are in the yellow, so your extracurricular activities and personal statement will definitely be evaluated for UP. I think you have a good chance at the summer session if you don’t get in UP for fall.
QuicklyTea- if you haven’t been accepted by this point, I am surprised.
bkb2011- I think you will get in even though engineering is a competitive major.
PA2015- It is good that you are thinking about summer because you are in the yellow on the bubble chart, but people in the yellow section get accepted to fall UP. The number varies on the competitiveness of the other applicants, but I think you have a good shot if your school is highly ranked. Colleges like competitive schools that prepare their students for college.
gogeta1217- You are right on the border of the bubble chart, but I think you will get in (esp. with your SAT subject test scores). Plus, your ethnicity makes you diverse therefore making you more appealing to PSU.

Yup, I still haven’t been accepted yet, FingasCrossed. It’s very frustrating.

QuicklyTea, I am very sorry that you have not been accepted yet. I don’t know how the GPA works percentage wise, but your SATs are very high and you have done very well on AP tests. I am unsure of the order that the admissions office is using to accept students. It seems like many people in the blue bubbles on the chart have not heard back from PSU yet. I hope they send out many acceptance letters soon because I am starting to get frustrated as well.
