A "Chances" and Aid Thread

Can anyone update me on my chances? My stats are

• GPA - 3.5 UW, 6.111 W (for some reason my school W # does not seem to match any other school). If you look only at my GPA in my Honors/AP courses it goes up each of my three years to a high of 3.60 UW / 6.636 W in my Junior year.
• Rank – My school ranks only in deciles using their version (unlike anyone else’s) of Weighted so my weighted GPA of 6.111 probably puts me around the top 15% level. However, if you only include my Honors/AP courses, my 3 year weighted GPA jumps to 6.636 which would put me around the top 7% level. Yes, basically I had a tendency to slack off in the “filler” classes.
• Honors / AP – By the end of my Junior Year I had taken 10 Honors courses along with AP Physics (got a 4 on the test). My senior Schedule includes Honors English, AP World History, AP US History, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Calculus
• EC – The run of the mill stuff like most everyone – Volunteer at Senior Citizen Center, 3 years Track (both indoor and outdoor), Robotics Club, Biology Club, etc.
• SAT = 1340/1400 and 1970/2400.
• SAT II – Math II (720), Physics (710), Chemistry (710)
• ACT = Composite of 31 (32 if they super score) on two separate tests with highs of 35 on the Science section and 33 on the Math Section. Lowest score was a 29 on the English section.
• College Courses – Took 5 College courses at a local college between Freshman and Sophomore years (College Algebra - C, US History I - A, Applied Calculus – C, Colonial History - B and Pre-Calculus - B) for a GPA of 2.75
• Essays – Everyone says they will write a “killer essay” so I will say that I’m hoping that my essay is “killer”
• LOR’s – Should be stellar as I will include them from both my high school teachers as well as my College Math Professor.

What would my chances for aid also be if anyone has an idea?

Damn, thats a ridiculous GPA
but I'd say you'd definitely get in

The test scores might be a bit low, but I think you'd probably get the ~17k/year scholarship
Perhaps you might consider retaking the SAT, a score above 2100 usually is a good qualification for the president's scholarship, which is about 21k

Definitely u will get in.
Write a good essay, it should help u get more scholarship.

Well...the common app essay should be good although I cannot tailor it to CW as it is going to other schools.

I'm not sure about the merit aid. I had a higher GPA with similar test scores and didn't get anything.

It could be a bit of luck if you're borderline though.

I dont know how much an essay is going to actually help you get a better scholarship- although that doesnt mean you should slack on it and if you have the time I would say tailor your essay for the Case one- it might show that you're interested, I didnt because I really liked the one I wrote for UPenn- personally I really think my essays are what got me into college- I dont have a horrible GPA but its not the best (although I was a full IB diploma student).
The big thing is your GPA and your test score. I have a friend that got, I think the President's or maybe it was the Trustees, I dont remember he got one of the scholarships and he had stellar grades, GPA 3.989 (or something like that) and pretty nice SAT scores- I think he was only a few points off of being a National Merit Canidate. So in other words- the scholarships are pretty damn competitive
But I just rechecked your stats- and are you planning on running for Case? Are you a good runner? cause that might be a leg up for the admission committee and a possible scholarship- Case doesnt give up sports scholarship but I've heard that they do tend to give athletes nice scholarships.
and if you qualify for aid-now thats another story too

you're right in the middle of the pack, as far as test scores, EC's. Your unweighted GPA is a little low. However, I have no doubt you'll get in. You may or may not get merit aid.

My daughter received $15,000 a year for 4 years. She only had a 3.8 GPA, however attended a very competitive private school. Her ACT was 30 and she had good rec and over 500 (highschool) volunteer hours. She did apply EA. Hopes this helps.

^ Girls get better offers from Case than boys. Just my observation. (They are a tad short on females.)
