a cheater??

SO WHAT IF ALL THE FINGERS POINT AT YOU? Hmm? I mean think about it, this could fall towards the worse, and could end up being negative for you. Can you even THINK about risking that?

And ok, so if he finds out you told on him, what's he going to do?

Is he going to ask you:
"Why did you tell on me for cheating off of you on the SATs?"

Ladies and Gentlemen, above is the stupidest question on this planet.

Considering he's from the same school, that might arise some problems if CC blacklists him.

Violence generally tends to arise more and more these days.

But I know if it was my place, R E P O R T.

squeal like a pig and kill the little sucker
although it sounds childish, this is definitely unethical and be reported immediately like the other 20 ppl bfore me. however, why didnt u do this after the guy left? shouldnt u have talked to the proctor about this?

It's too late now, you really should have acted earlier. You let this guy make a monkey out of you

I would tell on him. I don't feel bad about cheating in high school, but he shouldn't cheat on the SAT's like that.

should've punked that kid at least

i never reported him earlier because he just RECENTLY started telling people about how he cheated on me (or at least I recently heard about it from a friend).... look, I really can't say until I get the scores back whether it's true or not - if we have the exact same score, I will most certainly say something, considering we both have the same guidance counselor.... he's a doofy kid, not a real big threat in college admissions

yeh yeh...get your guidance counselor to back you up

By the time you get your scores I think it will be too late. Call it in. They will compare wrong answers "wow, these guys missed all of the same ones and had the same wrong answer". If they compare and find them different, then they will conclude he did not cheat and nobody will be punished.

If you are a good student then most likely any college you decide to attend will have an honor code that binds you to telling on cheaters. Get a head start on this way of thinking now. If the person sitting next to you did much better than he/she should have, then it also affects the scales on those tests for later and percentages of people that make above a certain range, etc. PLUS - a very good friend of mine who is a middle school principal said that she ALWAYS gives zeros for every time a student cheats and that has always cured those students from then on. There was one student she didn't give a zero because in this one instance, she wasn't quite sure enough of the proof. This student went on to high school to continue cheating. She says she'll never waver again.

but, what prevents him from saying "Well, I saw him cheat off of me" --- i assure you, I didn't -- but if our scores were very similar, what stops him from accusing me of cheating, and then both of our scores get cancelled?

I would ask my guidance counselor what to do.

I agree with TuftsPlease; because you're from the same school, that puts your school on the map and they'll watch you. (Trust me, coming from a very unpopular school over at ETS and CollegeBoard...)

But if you're not satisfied with your guidance counselor's response, do what you want. If you report it, it'll serve you justice. If you don't, then he's going to walk away with your score.

In every private school I know, if there is a suspicion that someone copied off of the other, the blame is put equally on both students. This is done because one student is the enabler, the other the cheater. In one instance, I know it was grossly unfair, because the young man who I am sure everyone knew did NOT copy from the other kid, was just a space cadet type who just doesn't pay attention to his surroundings. The other kid was a known cheat and troublemaker. But it did not matter. When you go to College Board, there is no way to determine who copied off of whom. Both results will be invalidated, and you will both have to retake a version of the test.

Just R E P O R T Him Now

Before The Scores Come Out!!

After That There Is Nothing The Collegeboard Can Do

Everybody is saying to report him, but I don't think I would. I think it would be hard for CB to get enough proof to do something about it. Like, let's say some1 cheats off another person, and the cheater, to cover his own butt, reports the person he copied from as a cheater. You never know who to believe. I dont know how CB deals with these situations but I don't see how they can just take some1s word for it. They might end up cancelling both scores.
Also, you know you did well of the exam. I wouldnt care how the cheater did on it as long as I'm satisfied with my score. And if you're saying that he's not a threat to you for college admissions, I would just let him have his high score. It's not hurting you.

i agree.... it's not worth going through the whole process with CB and possibly even getting my score cancelled -- so.. he may have gotten away with it this time, but honestly, one day his cheating tactics will kick him in the ass, and i'll just laugh :-D

HAHA dude you never know, if u report that kid he might come beat the s*** out of you or gang you up or something...

i wouldnt really care if i were u because if i got the score i needed, i wouldnt worry about others....

If his GPA is like 2.0, but his SAT scores 2000+, then colleges are going to suspect something. It's OK. His abnormal score might even hurt him in the end. :) I don't trust the CB for customer service or whatever; there's nothing to prevent them from cancelling your score.

But maybe you should talk to a teacher you are friendly with and who knows that you wouldn't cheat; maybe the CB gets evidence that a person is not cheating off of the teachers.

there is no way you should tell on him. hes a joke, you know that, but dont risk your own sat scores. its going to come back to haunt him in the end anyways. plus, do you really want to get involved in a situation with you as the tattle tale? move on, don't let anyone copy again.

They save the booklets. They're going to know he's the one who cheated if he was able to do all of the math problems with out showing any work... particularly the ones towards the end. Who can do that? Not I.
