A college to transfer to

I did poorly in high school and ended with a 2.7 and 21 act. I go to an okay university but I want to transfer now. Can someone suggest a college for me? My gpa in college first semester is 3.04.

I want to go to a college in the big ten, acc, or pac 12 if possible

What can you afford? Are you in need of FA? Home State? Major? Freshman/Sophomore? Specific locations in the US?

A 3.04 will not get into top schools, think like 3.8+.

I can afford most out of state. Anywhere within those conferences and I’m not applying to U of M or nortwestern types. Think more along the lines of Purdue and Virginia tech

Stay at your college in order to complete more units, aim for A’s which will raise your GPA high enough to transfer somewhere decent. Take SAT and S T U D Y. Write some killer recs and get some killer LoR’s and you’ll get somewhere decent. You need more EC’s as well to transfer somewhere decent as well, preferably research and a club. Your application should speak a ‘narrative’ that is, a story in which the AdComs can really get a feel and some sort of ‘hook’ out of you (Philosophy lover whom specializes in philosophy of mathematics, Biology lover whom specializes in cross-referencing two completely unrelated fields, Education major who wants to change the face of special education, etc).

With only one semester of classes taken, colleges will ask to see your high school grades and test scores, and that will likely keep you out of schools like Purdue or VTech.

What is your major?

What classes did you take last semester and what grades did you get?

Are you saying that your parents have said that they will pay $45k per year for an OOS school?

Are you trying to transfer for Fall 2016?

Major is undecided I would like to eventually work my way up to engineering. Yea, they’re okay with paying the OOS. Trying to transfer for fall 2016. I took mostly just gen eds.

With a 3.04 you wouldn’t get into VTech etc.
Ask your parents what their exact budget without parent loans would be and post it here.

If you didn’t start in engineering it’s doubtful you’ll get there unless you are taking lots of math classes now. And no one has been able to say if colleges will accept an SAT (test designed for HSers) taken in college so I wouldn’t put that on my list of things to do. And Mom2CK is correct that colleges will want your HS info until you’ve been in a college for two years.

If you truly do want to study engineering, the best pathway would probably be to find a community college that has articulation agreements for engineering with one or more 4-year institutions. Provided you complete the requirements of that agreement (specific courses and specific GPA), you will be guaranteed admission into the engineering program at the participating college or university. Some community colleges have residence halls, so you aren’t limited to only the CCs you can commute to from your parents’ home.

Well happymomof1 at my school right now I’m in engineering I just want to go to another school because I don’t like it.

Thread closed because OP became rude, and fails to understand that people require information in order to be helpful. Also contradicts himself when he first says he wants to work up to engineering and then says he is in engineering. The latter makes little sense since he also states he is taking mostly gen eds, whereas an engineering program would have him in Calc and science/engineering courses, mostly.
