A combination of scholarships?

So I received the Wilder Trustee Scholarship (ok, a digression here but why is it the only one with "the" in front on the list? Do they only give one?) for $15,000, but I'm a National Merit Finalist and if I put UR as my first choice I get $22,000 (I think). Could I combine these two scholarships? That would be nice :D

my understanding is you get just one (the larger of the two offers)

ROC can give two but they may still cap the $$ amount.

I've never heard of people getting more than 1 Rochester scholarship, i.e., if you get 2 Rochester-specific scholarship, you get the larger of the two.

You could get more than 1 if you bring in outside scholarships. However, after a certain amount of outside scholarships, they start taking your Rochester grant money away ;(

Right. My D got the Rush Rhees after getting the smaller Kodak, or whatever it was called. She got about $2,000 on top of the 10K Rush.

Dwienerman probably knows the current rules on this. That's why ROC pays him the big bucks...

Jersh55 is right about scholarships. We only give one scholarship. Depending on the financial aid package, a scholarship might affect need-based grants.

So, if you haven't heard either way on admission yet, does this mean that you are NOT getting one of these scholarships even though you could still be admitted.
Put another way, is there a qualitative method to the time lag in admissions?
If we haven't heard yet does this mean the candidacy is not as strong?
All the folks that have already heard are saying "relax" but rest assured, it is easier said than done.
Thanks

dweinerman---I know a lot of colleges only have a certain number of National Merit Scholarships to give. Has UR already exhausted those funds or can I still put Rochester as my first choice and get the scholarship?

We have not exhausted those funds, so you can still put UR as your first choice and get the scholarship.

dweinerman- i listed it as my first choice college a few months ago, but my scholarship letter didn't mention it. should i say something or is this normal?

jocool26, we just received our first list of National Merit Finalists who put UR as their top choice so this IS normal. You should be receiving another letter revising your award within three weeks.

NEValu, letters go out in waves, so yes if you are admitted you may get a scholarship.
