A complete guide to getting your Equivalence certificate

Hi if i did my o levels in 2015 from the UK and a levels in 2018 from Pakistan and already have a provisional equivalence certificate for both o and a levels can i resit my o levels to improve my o level grades and get a new equivalence certificate or is this not allowed ?

@muhammadassim there’s no restriction. You can resit and still apply for equivalence. You must have the original certificates, that’s the only requirement.

Hi I have no idea where my question just got posted so gonna ask again… Hope I get a reply. Ive got around 77%equivalence for my O levels and in A levels currently I have 2 completed AL subjects urdu and business. I took a gap year and now giving third English language subject AL. I wanna get into nust business school and theyve written any combination of subjects. But I wasnt sure regarding HEC. That will they make an equivalence on Urdu business and English?? . I’ve heard That subjects need to be full credit. Other than that there’s no problem but I still had my doubts. Secondly a gap year and giving subjects separately won’t be a problem for getting an equivalence made right? Last. NBS focuses more on test scores, I’ve got friends who got admission having average O/A level equivalence but good test scores so it’s not necessary to have 80% equivalence for applying to NBS right?.
Kindly do reply ?

@Sanioo No it’s not necessary. You just need to have a more than 60% equivalence for being considered.
NBS takes 15% of your OL , 10% of your AL from the equivalence. The other 75% is from the NBS test.
Just make sure you don’t end up with a D grade and have a good equivalence to increase your chances. :slight_smile:

Hi I did my O levels with 8 As and A levels in Chemistry,Physics,Biology. I already have equivalence certificates for both A levels and O levels. Now I am going to appear in A level Mathematics only and I wanted to ask can I get a new equivalence from ibcc in engineering group only .

@shah12 yes perfectly possible. Just take the new certificate of Maths alongside the old certificates of Physics and Chemistry.

Thank you for your reply :slight_smile:

Thanks a lot ?. So the subject combination is fine too right? Incase I prefer mass communication as a degree in nust.

@Sanioo absolutely! and you’re welcome :slight_smile:

@linkinpark96
I gave 9 subjects in O levels
Pak Studies, Islamiat, Urdu, English, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Computer Science, Accounts
Currently doing A levels with
Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science
I want to apply for Nust, Giki, and Fast in Computer Science department but they require equivalency of Science Group
Do I have to give O level Chemistry to quality for Science group in SSC so I can get my equivalency?

@hawkeagles you are right, you won’t be able to qualify for the sciences group. I think I know someone who didn’t give O level chemistry and still got into a CS undergrad. I’ll have to confirm though.
I’d suggest you call IBCC’s office to ensure you’re on the right track. Chemistry at A level is not mandatory, that’s confirmed though.

@linkinpark96
Thankyou so much for your reply
I am extremely worried about this because I might have to take a gap year just because of this.
I will confirm withIBCC by tomorrow
Please do tell me about the person you are talking about and how he managed to get into
Thanks

@hawkeagles I asked my friend and turns out he took chemistry but told me that it’s necessary at o level. At a level you can drop it.
Let me know what IBCC tells you too.
and you’re welcome :slight_smile:

ok guys so I was told by the admissions counsellor at LUMS that I could go to a government bank and have copies of my certificates attested.
I went to the National Bank of Pakistan and they told me they’re not permitted to attest certificates anymore.
However, I’m thinking maybe I phrased my words wrong. I didn’t want my certificates attested, just their copies… maybe thats’s possible?
Anyway could someone please let me know where I can get copies of my certificates attested from if I don’t personally know a government worker?

@ssbz99 I have no information about this new rule. Most probably you didn’t say it right. Another option is that you can take the copies to any government school teacher (preferably ask someone you know). Or any government college teacher above grade 16. GC / Punjab College etc.

Hello
I am currently in the UAE and am currently doing A Levels
I have completed my OL and got 7A* and 1A
What will be my equivalent marks?
Also I have applied to NUST for Mechanical Engineering and on the Application Form they ask for Total Marks and Marks obtained as per IBCC equivalence
What do I enter there?
Thanks for the help in advance

@AlAqmar 805/900 marks.
This is exactly what you enter there.

hey are D grades at A-level bad for most unis in pakistan? I’m no talking about NUST or LUMS but rather FCCU, BNU, KCWU, UMT, etc

@ssbz99 yes they are bad overall but for the universities that you listed below, they usually accept students with these grades based on the merit and if they can fully pay the fees.
