A completely original UCB thread!

Just kidding. It's another stupid "chance me" thread by another insecure transfer prospect.
Summer is almost over, so what did you expect? Please help!

School: Pasadena City College
Major: History
GPA: 4.0
All IGETC/Pre-req courses will be finished before transferring.
ECs: Basically nothing.

The obvious issue here: I have 0 extracurricular activities outside of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Club. I don't even have a job, and I have a strange feeling quite a few of you will be applying to Berkeley this fall with a 4.0 AND a bunch of other stuff.

I guess I was hoping someone could possibly, maybe, be so kind as to recommend some last-minute steps I could take to strengthen my application before I send it in this fall.

Thank you so very much for all your help!

Go join some clubs one campus for the fall semester, but you have a 4.0 you will be fine. Not every person on this forum has a 4.0.

It still summer…volunteer as MUCH as you can now just so you can put something extra in ur app
Ask your friends what ec they did and try doing the same

With your GPA you shouldn’t have a problem becoming a tutor for the History Department at your CC. Forget joining clubs (You’ve already missed the election cycle and just being IN a club doesn’t really add much weight). If you’re really into the club idea, try petitioning to start a history club (possibly in area studies or world). Just some thoughts.

Excellent advice so far. I did not think of tutoring. I’ll look into that and volunteer work. I’ve been thinking about starting up a Middle Eastern Studies club at my school, since I’ve never heard of an active one here. I’m learning Arabic and planning to concentrate on Middle Eastern History, so that should qualify me to at least run one by the higher ups.

Not sure how much that will help me out with admissions, but it’s worth a shot. At the very least, it would be a nice addition to my resume when applying for grad school.

Don’t waste your time. I got into Cal with a 3.8 with virtually 0 EC as a History major.

I’m applying to Cal as a Film Studies major/Creative Writing minor. Does anyone know how hard it is to get into the two programs?
