A Confusing Dilemma

Hey,
I'm from Toronto, Canada. I want to study medicine in the future. I was wondering if it is a good idea to pursue my bachelor's degree at a US university. Canada has good universities, but is it "better" to study in the US? Also, I know the situation with US medical schools accepting few international students, and it is far more difficult to pay for my education in the US. What should I do, stick to Canada (considering my career path), or look at US universities too?

Thanks

Come on, someone must have some opinion about this.

It doesn’t hurt to apply to US schools.

First, this probably doesn’t belong in the Columbia forum.

I would say that if you plan on going to med school in the US, you would be advantaged by going to undergrad in the US. But you can’t compare US universities with Canadian universities wholesale because it depends on the particular college. I would say that Columbia is significantly a better choice than most Canadian schools. On the other hand, a school like McGill or UToranto is probably better than most US public colleges. So, apply to schools in both countries, see where you get in, and then compare. Also, consider the financial viability of going to school in the US versus going to school in Canada.
