A couple of questions from someone applying ED!

Okay so I am applying ED to University of Pennsylvania USING the Common App and I needed to know some things:

When Recommendations are sent via envelope, are they kept by the University once they are received on file or something? I know the deadline is November 1st, so should the recommendations be sent a few weeks prior to that or would they wait to receive them if my Application + Supplement are sent November 1st?

On the ED agreement, is that mailed separately to the school in a separate envelope also? Since it has to be hand-signed and everything.

Also, how does the Fee Waiver on the Common App. work? It says it's not available until I submit my application/supplement, but what would I need to qualify for a fee waiver?

I would recommend calling Upenn yourself....

As for the recommendations, if the school receives them before your app, they will start a file, if after, will add to your file, simple

I think I will tomorrow, I was just worried like if they see a recommendation envelope from a teacher before my actual application gets there if they would just throw it out or keep it, lol

oh they won't throw it out....they get stuff in like that all the time...just be sure the recommendation has your name exactly, so they can match it up

they have staff whose only job it is is to sort applications and match the different pieces up

Ah okay, thanks a lot for the reassurance!

You wouldn't happen to know how long it'd take for a rec. to get to Pennsylvania from Texas via snail mail, would you by any chance?

You're worrying too much. Two-three days for USPS. Just because one sliver of your file isn't there exactly on the due date isn't going to sink your chances. Breathe.. breathe...

Really though, best of luck to you.
