I was wondering what your daily schedule looks like. How much time do you spend in class? How much time do you spend studying? What do you do during the week when you are not studying? Ect. Anything would help
just wondering what next year is going to be like
thanks
Dan

Since I am a senior taking 14 credits I am not sure how applicable my info will be, but here it is...

Monday: Class from 10:00-1:00, 5:00-6:30, Work from 7:00-10:00 (I was a TA)
Tuesday: Open
Wednesday: Class from 10:00-1, 3:00-6:30
Thursday: Open
Friday: Class from 10:30-11:25, Research from 1:00-4:00
Saturday: Open
Sunday: Research from 3:00-6:00

You probably won't be doing research and may not work, so that will cut it down a bit, though you probably would have at least one more class, as I get 2 credits from research.

My study habits are weird, it happens a lot at night and I am at the point in my career where it is much less memorization and it is more applied. I used to study for maybe 10 hours a week, memorizing, reading, things of that nature. Now, I am doing more research (like for my thesis) so that involves more researching, figuring out methodologies, finding the best measure for my study, seeing where it fits with other studies, finding support for my research, etc. Very different. I probably worked for 15-20 hours a week on homework this year, but that was because of thesis. It wasn't your traditional studying, however, but it was more reading scientific journals and things of that nature.

I hope that helps some, though a freshman schedule would be more beneficial. I just don't remember my old schedules all that well.

that helps, thanks

Son left us his schedule for beginning of spring semester, he is an eng major in First Year Studies taking 17 hours. I can't speak to his study habits but here's his schedule.
Monday-8:30-10:30, 11:45-2:45 Classes
Tuesdays-9:30-11:50, 2:00-2:50, 3:45-5:00 Classes
Wednesdays-same as Mon.
Thursdays-10:00-11:55, 3:45-5:00 classes
Fridays-same as Mon and Wed except finishes at 1:45

I know that he has time to play a club sport. He does not have a job or do research yet. However, from all indications, he has a lot of work in that he is taking Physics, Chem, Calc, Intro to Engineering, Social Psych, PE, a Calc tutorial and a Physics tutorial. He also has a Physics lab every other week. Not sure about this fall's schedule except that I know that it is 17 hours again and I think he is registered to take his 2nd required Theology course unless something changes over the summer. Hope this helps!

I took something like 21 hours this semester:
Monday: 8:30-11:30, 12:50-7
Tuesday: 9:30-10:20, 2:00-3:15
Wednesday: 8:30-11:30, 12:50-6, 7:30-8:30
Thursday: 10:00-1:00, 2:00-3:15
Friday: Same as Monday, except get out at 4.

This includes time in band as well as research in the Nuke Lab. It does not include that infinitely variable factor known as homework and the elusive time to practice one's instrument.

Exactly what I am looking for, thanks a lot

Putsch, you are nuts...we can help you in the Psych department. You should stop by sometime!

I am a freshman, I took 18 credits this semester (16 academic), and my schedule was:
Monday: Class from 8:30-12:35 and 3:00-3:50
Tuesday: Class from 9:30-1:45
Wednesday: Class from 8:30-12:35 and 3:00-3:50
Thursday: Class from 12:30-1:45
Friday: Class from 8:30-9:20, 10:40-12:35, and 3:00-3:50
I also had University Band rehearsal Monday evenings from 7:30-9:00 (1 credit) and Flute Ensemble rehearsal Thursday evenings from 7:15-8:15 (1 credit).

I feel like I study more than the average student; depending on the day, I guess I spend anywhere from 2-6 hours doing homework. That includes time spent during the day too though, not just at night. During the week, when I am not studying or at music rehearsal, I have four Student Government meetings per week (Student Senate, Hall Council, and one for each of the two Senate committees I am on). I also spend about an hour at dinner every night, and watch several TV shows religiously (The Office, Grey's Anatomy, and Gilmore Girls, if you were wondering :)). I also get 6-8 hours of sleep per night (~1:00-~8:00).

Next semester, I will have class from 8:30-12:35 and 1:55-2:45 every MWF and no classes on Tuesday or Thursday. I can't wait!

Hope that helped!

interesting...........

Thanks for the help, I just had no idea what next year was going to look like. Im hoping for a CitricAcid like schedule.

Don't count on it. I don't know anyone with that kind of schedule. And 15 hours is pretty light--doesn't look like it accomodates a lab science either.

PCB, I hate to break it to you, but not everyone kills themselves with classes like engineers and premeds. If the OP is intending to be in A&L or Business, he'll most likely be at 15, and most likely his schedule will look pretty similar to what he's hoping.

I was just being really optimistic/half joking, but I am in A&L with like 20 some odd hours from AP.

Finals week is making me wish I were in business...

Amen......

Hang in there!! You are almost finished with finals!!! Not to veer too far off-topic, I noticed in the general forum a thread about how engineering could possibly become the liberal arts of the 21st century or something along those lines. We know several DRS that obtained an eng degree before going on to med school and in some ways they have said, the eng degree was much harder or maybe they were just used to the workload by med school. But, they have also told us that if you can make in engineering, you can make it anywhere because of the critical thinking skills learned, etc. And, lest you forget, you will have a diploma from the University of Notre Dame!! Best of Luck on those finals and to those who will be new freshman this fall with new schedules!!

I also forgot to add--off topic of course--that one of local ND Club officers contacted us recently. He mentioned that he started out in Engineering some years ago. He said that he remembers the Dean of the Eng. School at that time welcoming students by saying "Welcome future Business intents!"
