A couple questions

Hello, I really want to go to USC but so far I only have one sat2 and my sat isn't that good either. Can you guys tell me what I should do and which college of USC do I have a higher chance of being accepted?

I have right now one SAT II that I just took
1920 on my SAT I
and my GPA is 3.4

Im an international student in a competitive school and last year a lot of the seniors got accepted into USC. I also have good ECs like volunteered for the EXPO and good recs.

So I will take either SAT I or SAT II on december, which one do you suggest I take?

Thanks everyone!

I have to be honest - USC is looking like a reach for you. Where are you from? That may help if they understand how competitive your school is and how competitive your school grading system is. Otherwise, do your best to raise your test scores because that GPA is a little weak for USC.

Good luck! :)

I’m from China, and should I take SATII or SATI for december?

That is up to you.
I don’t know USC’s testing policy, but if it is like NYU’s, then I would recommend you take the SATI and get a stellar score. Then in January (if you can), take one more (or two, if you like) subject tests.

ok thanks, but isn’t it too late to take sats in january?
and what would be a stellar score?
Also, would applying to some schools of USC easier for me?

I really think you should raise your SAT I score for now to make up for your rather low GPA. That doesn’t mean your GPA is unacceptable, but it slightly gears toward the lower end. So take SAT I in Dec and get about 2000. I’m sure you’ll get 700+ on MA, so focus on CR. I’m you’re happy with your SAT I then great, take SAT IIs in Jan. Otherwise, RETAKE SAT I (just my opinion). Good luck.

Thank you very much, I’m confident of getting 2000+ in Dec.

But isn’t taking SATII in Jan too late? Would USC accept it if I send in the application early? Or do I have to wait until the very end to send it in?

SAT I plays a very important role in your evaluation by USC Adcoms. The SAT II, however, is optional for USC. It pays to put more effort into the SAT I.

The most important criteria, however, will be your hs transcript (your gpa combined with the rigor of your courses–are they the hardest courses offered at your school?)

The GCs at your high school should have a good idea of what range of students got accepted to USC in past years. Ask them about your chances.

Good luck.

My GC told me the range in our school for SATI is around 1800-1900 and that I should take SATIIs unless i’m confident on getting a 2200-2300. That’s why I came here to ask you guys, because I’m sure I can get 2000+

^Regarding the second part of your question, which schools within USC should you apply to … well, USC frowns upon anybody trying to guess which school will get them into USC. The admissions staff at USC says over and over again – we want you to apply to the school that interests you most, period. They want you to apply to the school you’re most interested in. Not the one that will game the system. That’s their hope.
