A critical reading question!

Hi, I wish someone can explain this critical reading question for me. I am gonna take the Oct.SAT and still make mistakes in reading.

Words have always held a particular power for me. I remember leafing through a book of Native American poems one morning while I was waiting for my Shakespeare class to begin and being struck by a phrase from the preface,"The word, the word above all, is truly ,agical, not only by its meaning, but by its artful manipulation."

Question: The author of the passage uses the quotation in lines 4-5 primarily as a:
A.vivid expression of how she views words.
B.scholarly citation linking her to poetic words.
C.pragmatic assessment of the power of words for beginning drama students.

The answer is A. I can never understand : "~~~" is said by someone else, how could it be an expression of the author?
why C is wrong?

I have taken a practice test on this particular passage!! Here, C is wrong because the narrator NEVER relates how she feels about words with the fact that she takes drama lessons. Moreover, this passage focuses on her “relationship” with words. She quotes a particular sentence because it’s truthfulness stroke her!

I’m taking the October SAT too… Best of luck!!

Remember something very important for ALL critical reading questions. If the answer does not pop out at you – use process of elimination to find 4 bad answers and circle in the remaining answer.

In this case, C cannot be right because there is no mention of it being advice for beginning drama students.

Answer B cannot be right since it is not accurate at all.

When in doubt, eliminate the bad answers, and whatever you are left with will be correct.

Thanks for the explaination. Good luck everyone!
