a "D" in junior year

I received a 65 on English in junior year, should I explain this in my application: "As a recent immigrant, I was required to take ESL (English as second language) classes. I developed skills that enabled my placement into regular English class. I received a grade of 65 that reflects my transition. As of today, I am continuing to develop my English and my grade has improved."

Will this explanation work against me?

My advice would be to attend community college for a year or two, then apply for transfer admission into state school. After attending state school for a year, given your grades are subpar, you should apply to a top tier private investment group.

Grits=what? The only low grade this student mentions is english........an investment group? I have no idea what you are trying to say????

grits is giving bad advice.

or cannot read well......or cannot speak well.

Think along the lines of Citadel, Blackstone group, Meryll Lynch, etc. These companies recruit almost exclusively from top tier community colleges and Ivy leagues, which gives you a VERY good shot at acceptance into these colleges.

Correct.

And who says the OP even wants to be involved in business or investment banking?

.............

The "D" wont hurt you significantly, given that the rest of your app is amazing.

thanks! any more??
