A-Day

Went up to WP to pick up my yuk today - went up early enough view A-Day ceremonies. What a difference from last year - about 75 degrees, slight breeze, no humidity as opposed to last year when it was close to 100 and 100 percent humidity. Everything went smoothly. Inspiring to see the whole Corps on the parade field standing at attention, devoted to our country(except, course, the many foreign cadets). Especially at a time when it seems so many of our politicians think we can appease our enemies and shrink back to our own borders.

I felt like a voyeur being there as a 2009 parent - watching the plebes come out of the sallyways to meet their parents, arms at side, back straight, limited emotion. It was nice to see my cadet come bounding out in his khaki shorts and t-shirt. Quite a difference.

Sounds great BG!!! We're hoping our D gets the chance to call us now that the parade is over. We got one email this week, her two new plebes are keeping her very busy! :)

It was great!!!!! They all looked great!!! My cadet loves her team leader (yuk). She says she is really great and feels kind of bad for her because she feels like it is her team leader's obligation to babysit her. She knows that she is the team leader's responsibility and she knows that she needs to make sure that my daughter is okay and then take care of her own things. What a great A-Day. I think I'll come again next year too when my daughter is a yuk!

Congratulations to all the 2010 Cadets and to their parents! With classes starting today, it's a whole new world...

oh yes it is...

James! How're ya doing? Congrats on your accomplishments this summer. My son is actually enjoying NMMI so far believe it or not.

spidermom you are telling the wrong person about liking nmmi.

james will be the anti-nmmi until he dies.

and thats why i love him

Hehehe, yeah, that's what I thought. How are YOU doing?

Seems like changes for the better have happened at NMMI. Last year was a disaster from most reports.

I put in my 2 years as a prep at NMMI, and I have moved on to the University of Arizona's ROTC program....though my West Point dreams aren't dead yet. I'm applying for the 3rd time this year, so cross your fingers for me!

As for NMMI, I...like many of my fellow cadets, have promised myself never to go back... so for the sake of current cadets, I hope whatever changes were made are a turn for the better for the poor corps.

hey spidermom...sorry for not gettin back to ya sooner, been busy here...and yes nmmi...sigh nmmi is nmmi

as for west point-im enjoying the life here...being a plebe sucks, BUT i like the atmosphere and i feel like ive come to the right place. that being said, academics are pretty weird...still getting used to everything...but its only week 3 and its already labor day weekend! in 5 days...WOOOO!

James2010 and Cadet for 7, proud of both of you guys. Keep on keepin' on! I want to keep up with how your year goes.

talked too soon about the academics....im already getting thrashed with academics....WOO HOO!!!!
