A Dilema

Ok so basically, I had a mp3 disk recorded with some of my piano playing, and I was planning on submitting it to colleges. However, due to some transfer file problems (long story) from the player to the computer, the songs are unplayable w/o a computer and not of that great quality. I am not ready to send CDs out to my schools as supplements.

I did write an essay on piano/being passionate about it that I am submitting to colleges which I was planning to send my music to but the music part didn’t work out (as badly explained above). Does that reflect badly on me (like I don’t appear I’m serious enough about playing to bother sending in a CD)? I am a good pianist but I haven’t won like any state or national titles and I’ve heard that colleges (well I’m applying to some Ivies) only want you to send them opt. materials if your really good and at that level, so maybe not sending them the CD was a good thing?

My guess is that unless you are winning international music competitions or are applying to music schools, colleges will not want nor listen to your piano CDs.

Think about it: It is very time consuming for professors to evaluate things like CDs. The only applicants to a who'd get that kind of evaluation would be prospective music majors in competitive departments and those whose awards, professional performances indicate they are far above the norm.

Writing about your passion would sufficient.
