Yeah, another "chances" thread. I feel that I have lost some dignity and that college officially owns my life by making it, but here goes.

GPA - 4.0
Class Rank - 4-7% (unofficially) of 375 seniors
School - Widely regarded as best highschool in Ohio (typically about 8-9 ND students)
AP's - English Language & Comp, US History, Spanish, AB Calculus
Other - Precalc (jr), Advanced Chem, highest tracks English
My school doesn't have an honors track, per se.

SAT - 1380 (+ writing 760) = 2140
ACT - 31
PSAT - 213 Commended Scholar
I am taking the SAT one last time in January hoping to boost M and R about 20 points each.

National H Society

Big Brothers (senior year) mentor program
Marching Band (four years)
Jazz Ensemble (two years)
Senior Homeroom Leader (one)
Mass Server (four)
Parish Contemporary Music Group (one year)

Newspaper - Writer (three years)
Associate Editor (sophomore)
News Editor (junior)
Editor in Chief (senior year) - Huge extracurricular time commit. for me. Up to 30 hours of work / week on deadline weeks.

Baseball - junior varsity (soph)
AABC Summer League (four years)

Essay was excellent - edited by a current ND student actually.
Rec's, I think my school's teachers have an unwritten code of writing top recommendations for everyone. So those are fine.

Any help would be appreciated. And now that I have several pieces of ND garb from Santa, it is imperative that they stay pertinent and that I get accepted into the best school in America. With that said, I know my SAT score implies that I am IU or PU material, so hopefully my January sitting will rectify that.

It would be St. Ignatius' Jesuit counterpart in Southwest Ohio, though they did nudge us out by one in Semi-finalists this year, so I guess they would have a good argument.

I am applying to Notre Dame as well, so I by no means have any expertise on who will get in and who won't, but I would have to think you have a very good chance. It probably helps that you go to such a competitive school that sends 8-9 kids a year to Notre Dame. Overal your GPA and extracurriculars look pretty good. The only thing that I could see holding you back is your math and critical reading score, which are just a little low. However, I don't want to demean a 1380 because that is still a very good score especially when coupled with your 760 in writing.

Thanks, hopefully I can boost those numbers on my last go'round with the SAT. I think my ACT qualifies as the better score according to one scale I found.

Good luck to you as well, NDHopefull6.

Does anyone know why several college sites list ND's mid-range as lower than the school actually reports?

I would agree with emswim. Their acceptance rate has declined over the past few years as well, which might be an indication of that same reasoning. Ultimately I would trust the the college as the best source.

Besides, this year isn't a good year for acceptance rates...what with all the bandwagoners for Weis and Quinn, I'd bet there is going to be a rise in applicants in this year and years to come...anyone agree?
