A FAFSA/Taxes Question

My family has been in turmoil and I am so far behind the eight ball!!!

I have finished my 2019 tax return and my children’s, but I have not filed mine or theirs yet. (We are all getting refunds.)

Should I:
(1) File the returns today and finish my kids’ FAFSAs tomorrow or
(2) Finish their FAFSAs today and file the returns tomorrow?

My world has been a whirlwind of crap for 3 months.

Thank you everyone who has some advice!

Geo

Is there a FAFSA priority deadline of today? If not, file the returns tomorrow, then do the FAFSA.

I apologize for being inappropriately intrusive.

I am in a world of hurt.

I the past you have either been extremely helpful to me or made meaningful contributions to tax related questions

I could use any help you can offer or any referrals that you could make.

Sorry for being presumptuous that I deserve your help, but I do not know where to turn.

Thanks!

@kelsmom

Thank you very much for your reply.

As you will see in a minute by my reply to my message, I am beginning to wig-out.

I really appreciate your guidance.

No, there is not a priority deadline.

Thanks, again!

Geo

I would agree…file the returns first if that won’t mean missing a deadline. Make sure you print out a copy to use for FAFSA info. You won’t be able to use the Data retrieval tool immediately, but you can always go back into the FAFSA a little later and link to it.

Thanks!

The consensus is reassuring!
