I was selected out of 250 students in my grade to be entered in an academic competition. I didn’t enter into it, I haven’t done it yet, I don’t know if I will receive any awards, but would the selection itself count as an honors or distinction?

I can’t remember my other question right now, but feel free to add more, because they will probably answer mine. Thank you!

For item 1: It would probably be better to list them, one activity per line, followed by number of years and achievements, for example:

For item 2: It would be a good idea to list this. For example, "Selected out of 250 students to represent School X.." etc.

And if you enter this competition and win an award before March 10, it might be a good opportunity to send an update to adcoms.
