A few general UCLA and chem/physics double major questions

Transferring to UCLA in the fall and I have a few questions.

-This isn't really a question, but I'd be interested in any information about research groups and summer research programs (how to join one, what it's like to be in one, etc.).

-Do transferable CCC units count towards the unit cap? Non-transferable?

-I am currently a chemistry major. Would it be possible/advisable to double major in physics? As of now I intend to pursue physical chemistry in graduate school, but there are also many topics in physics that I would like to study (particularly particle physics). I've been considering simply changing my major, but I think I'd hate giving up chemistry even more than I hate having to give up physics (plus I'm a little behind in math, which would leave me not being able to start upper division physics for one or two quarters).

-How many units its too many? If I did double major in physics, I'd be taking 17-20 units per quarter (assuming no summer classes) in order to finish in two years.

-For the physical chemistry concentration, do I have to declare that I will be following that or do I just take the classes required for that concentration (versus general)?
