A few important questions

  1. if i applied to my local community college for the winter and spring term(ends june 6,2016) and I applied to Cal state san bernardino this fall to start school in the fall of 2016, would it work out? 2: I also want to know if because my fafsa application expires 12/31/16 would i have to fill out the fafsa again ? i figure because the application is still within that date I dont have to fill out another fafsa application. Also I'd like to know that whole process, once you do that, when the school decides how much money they give you, do they give it to you all at once, or do you have to fill out the fafsa in college every time it expires or if it was just a one time thing. i heard from one of my teachers this year they give you more money when you complete the first year because many drop out freshman year?

Cal states accept Junior level transfers with 60 semester units/90 quarter units. Will you have enough units by the end of Spring 2016 to attend in the Fall of 2016? You need to fill out the FASFA every year. If you are eligible for FA such a Pell Grants/Cal grants, you will see them in your acceptance Financial aid section for CSUSB. For Stafford loans, you are eligible for $5500 for Freshman year, $6500 for Sophomore year and $7500 for Junior and Senior year. If the school is on semester, you will receive the 1/2 the FA for Fall Semester and 1/2 for the Spring Semester. If you have any specific financial aid questions, I would contact your CCC and/or CSUSB.

If you can show a path to 60 units before Summer 16 - and have a CC GPA, they will consider your application. Many people enter college these days with 15-21 units via AP and another 6-9 via concurrent enrollment - making a one year transfer viable without a ridiculous workload.

You will fill out a fresh FAFSA each year - whether you receive aid or not. (at least at CSUs).
