a few newbie transfer questions please help!

hello so I know a lot of people transfer after two semesters is it ok if i transfer after only one semester? my high school record is great i had a 4.2 gpa i heard that if you have only been there for one semester than they look more closely at your high school record than your college record.

secondly my semester does not end until dec 20 a lot of deadlines are before that am i still eligible to apply?

I think it depends on the school.

Read the Transfer Admissions 101 sticky thread. What school do you want to transfer to? They might or might not accept freshman transfers in the spring.

Why do you want to trasnfer? (It may be too soon to really know if the current place is a misfit, or if it just needs more time. Usually, it just needs more time).

Of course, they look more closely at your hs record in a case like this. Because... you don't have a college record. With the possible exception of a midterm report.

Depends on the school if they allow Winter transfers or not. I've seen both in top universities.

Yes, schools will look, and put more weight on your HS GPA more than your college if you've been there for 1-2 semesters.

Even if your semester doesn't end until the 20th, grades won't come out until a lot later, schools may choose to accept you based on your HS application, or just wait until your college grades are out. Varies from school to school
