Hey so I just got back from preview and I'm very happy with my schedule. I just have a couple of questions-I meet up for CHM2045 four times a week and one of the classes is in the gymnasium, is that a problem? I always thought the rule of thumb was 1 hour of class per credit hour, so since CHM2045 is 3 credits I thought we only met 3 times a week..is it normal to have a chem class in the gymnasium?

My other question is do you think Intro to Anthropology is easier then General Psychology? I know there is no clear answer to this question, but I chose ANT2000 over PSY2012 for my last spot and just wanted to see some peoples opinion on that...thanks!

It might be around three hours (though I’ve taken multiple labs that were 1 credit and involved 3+ hours of class time per meeting) but not necessarily broken up 3 or 4 times a week. It depends on the subject/school. As far as meeting in the gym: you’ll probably meet in a classroom or auditorium within the gym, don’t worry. Public schools find ways to use most if not all of their buildings for multiple things, even gyms and stadiums.

Also, no one can really say which of those two intro. courses is harder. They are both introductory courses, so theres that. You could look up the professors you were thinking of taking them with, as one might be a more difficult grader than the other, etc. I’ve taken upper division courses that were easier than some throwaway intro. courses, it all depends.

thanks! and thanks for the clarification about chem I guess its okay. And yea I looked at online reviews about my psych professor and seriously every review was negative haha so I’m pretty glad i switched…but now i can’t find who my anthropolgy teacher is but I’m sure I’ll find the name somewhere on ISIS

No problem. Some people will tell you to not pay attention to reviews, but when the majority of the comments are negative it says something. Especially if you’re considering graduate school, avoid those kinds of professors. Don’t be one of those students who thinks they are the one special snowflake who will win the harsh-grader over :P!

For the chem classes you have three days of a 50min lecture (if your class is a period long) and then a 50 min discussion period. So for all intensive purposes it is ~3 hours a week you’re spending in class. The discussion period is in a classroom not in the Chemistry building, at least it was for me, so no it’s not a problem if it’s in the Gymnasium, the rooms in there are actually pretty nice once you go upstairs as they are lecture hall style.

As for the intro classes it’s really how lucky you are with the professor and, more importantly, how interesting the subject is to you.
