hey everyone, i am looking at phila u as an option for college next year, but just didn't get a good enough feel from the website and don't have the option of a campus visit.
so..
how is the financial aid at phila u?
it seems like everyone there is from philadelphia or near states like new jersey, is this the case? how is the diversity?
and most of all, how rigorous is the academic curriculum? the high accpetance rate also scares me a little bit, although from what i have read the university seems like a great school.
and lastly, just do you like it and have you had good experiences with the college so far??
any answers would be great!! thank you so much for your time.

I visited PhilaU in March of 2010 and I was accepted in October of 2010 and I most likely will be attending the school.

I haven’t done the financial aid process but when it comes to the merit aid scholarhsips I thought they were very generous. Plus, I am in a 5 year program and they gave me money for all 5 years. I had applied to several other schools that also were five years but only gave me money for four.
I am from Texas so I am worried about going to PhilaU and having everyone go home for the weekends. I would also like the answer to that.
When it comes to the physician assistant program that I was accepted in the final test scores are always about 90% pass rating. So I would feel the curriculum must be challenging in that aspect.
I haven’t attend, but I really enjoyed the tour and the campus is amazing.

I am in the middle of my sophomore year at PhilaU and am from Michigan (about a 10 hour drive from campus). The financial aid is some of the best of all the schools I applied to (K-State, Drexel, Western Michigan, Cincinnati University). I have academic as well as athletic scholarships and both were more generous than the other schools’ offers for either. A lot of the students are from nearby (Philly and Jersey) but they don’t all go home. As someone who can’t go home, both because of the distance and my academic/athletic schedule, I can say that there are still people around to hang out with and you won’t be the only one there. Also, having people who live nearby that do choose to go home as friends can be nice because they will take you home with them occasionally. It is also pretty diverse for how small it is. I have met people from CA, TX, MI, PA, NJ, NY, DE, VA, MA, VT, CT, ME and even some international students.
Academically it is definitely rigorous. Do you have a specific major you are considering? I am in Interior Design which is very similar to the Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Architectural Studies, Construction Management, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Textile Design and Historical Preservation majors. We are also well known for our Physician Assistant, Sustainable Design and Occupational Therapy programs. The best part about our school, academically speaking, is that you will never feel lost or forgotten in the numbers and the teachers will know you, help you and remember you even years later. I have bumped into professors from last year who still remember me well and would be able to write great references.
I have had some amazing experiences and made some great friends so far and I have never regretted picking PhilaU over any of my other options. It’s not always easy to go far away for school but I definitely think PhilaU is one of the best schools to do so.
