Hello guys, I have a few questions about the application process:

For the supplements, is it 140 characters with spaces or without spaces?

Where can I list my extracurricular activities?

If I send the school a research paper I did, would the Admissions Office actually read it?

I'm an American living in a country where it would take a while to get mail. Would I find out my decision over mail or could I also find it online?

Where can I list my AP scores?

Thanks!

Hey!

With spaces. It’s meant to read like a Tweet. Have fun with it!

You can list extracurricular activities on an optional resume if you would like. Please just include your name, address, and DOB on any materials you send in so we can correctly match it with your file. (You can send the materials as a PDF attachment to oafa@pitt.edu)

No need to send your research papers. Supplemental materials that really give the committee a good picture of who you are as a candidate are: answers to the supplemental questions, resume, letters of recommendation. All of these items are optional, but they do help the committee get to know you better as a candidate.

If you have an international address, you will receive email communications from us.

We do not need your AP scores for admissions decisions, just your transcript! If you are admitted at Pitt, you will bring those scores to your meeting with an academic advisor and they will help you determine how those credits can transfer. Here is some more information: http://www.oafa.pitt.edu/pdf/CreditAPIBExam.pdf

-A Pitt Admissions Staffer

Thanks @hailtopitt1787 for your informative answer! About number 2, do I list my mailing address or my permanent address on the supplemental materials? Because even though I live overseas, I put my brother’s address in Pittsburgh as my mailing address (because I though Pitt only sent mail decision…). Would that also mean that I would technically still get a mail?

Also sorry, another dumb question! If my school emails/faxes my transcript to Pitt, how are they matched up to my application? Does my school have to clarify my name, address, and DOB in the email they send the school?

@Drcharisma, put whichever address you used on your application! You will receive mail at any domestic address you provided, yes. But if you are accepted, our offers of admission are sent via email first and followed up by a letter. We also send a lot of other important information via email. Just have your brother keep an eye out for any mail that comes from us as well!

The transcript your school provides should have enough information for us to match it with your file, no need to worry! Our office will contact you if we seem to be missing anything that is required in order for the app to be considered complete, but you should be fine.

@hailtopitt1787 Thanks, I submitted my application. You have been a very big help throughout this entire process!

@drcharisma, Glad to hear you got your app in, and I am very happy to help. Good luck!
