a few questions about ross

Hey

Does Ross still follow the same early response/rolling application that the usual Umich application falls under?

So, if I get into Ross, I won't actually be going there until soph year? Would I be taking preparatory classes for Ross during freshman year?

How hard is it to get in for HSers, whats the acceptance %?

Do you recommend applying to Umich first and getting a feel of it, then applying to Ross as a freshman, or just applying as a HSer?

Thanks!

No, Ross does not have rolling admissions. the deadline is March 31st I think.
You can apply to Ross as a preadmit from HS. This is tough to get in. Most students apply during their freshman year, so would start Ross sophomore year.
Yes, you need to take prep classes. Before applying to Ross, you need Math 115, Econ 101, and an English course. Ap credits count to.

Are you sure you want to do business? I would apply as a freshman if you aren't...

Acceptance rate for pre admits ,is less than 10%. This year 2300 applied for preferred admit and little over a 100 got in.

Apply out of HS , if you get in , thats great. If you dont , you can always try again at the end of your freshman year.

how would you "try again" if you were rejected from the school? Are you saying transfer out of another school and enter Umich as a soph? Or, can you apply to Umich the normal way through rolling, and Ross as well? And therefore, if you got into Umich but not Ross, that would give you an opportunity to apply freshman year.

I'm not sure whether I want to do business or not so the best way would probably be applying as a freshman. But i'm still kinda confused baout how this works.

For applying out of HS, you pretty much apply to each at the same time. So, if you want to be considered for Ross preferred admit, there will be a section on your app where you can mark this off and then you will also attach a supplementary essay for Ross. UMich will first make a decision on whether or not to accept you. If you are accepted, they send your application (with the Ross essay) to Ross admissions for them to check out. Ross sends out its decision a month or two later.

The majority of the people in each entering class applied as college freshman. You can either go to UMich LSA or Engineering and apply for Ross again as a freshman (you won't be penalized if you weren't accepted out of HS) or you can go to a different school for freshman year and apply to Ross from there. It will be A LOT tougher applying from another school though, they only take ~3% from other schools if I remember correctly.

oh alright thanks. I guess my first step is to apply to Umich rolling then.

You can apply to through the new Early Response application , where you'll stand a better chance.

whats the difference between rolling and early response?

If you apply before October 31st , you get a decision by mid December, If you apply after October 31st , you apply under Rolling and are likely to get a decision much later and you'll have a lesser chance of getting in as compared to applying ER , simply because of space available.
