The first time I took the sat I got (About 4 Kaplan practice tests)

2100
CR - 710
M - 740
W -650 8/66

This time (June 09) I got (0 Practice tests, just looked at an essay writing guide, but didn't have time to follow it)

2170
CR - 700
M - 780
W - 690 10/66

So as you can see I am very disappointed about CR and W

I know that W multiple choice can be easily improved, but i am not exactly sure what book to use.

I need Blue book for CR I have heard.

I have NEVER BOUGHT OR USED THE BLUE BOOK IN ANY WAY

So I am going to buy books this week.

Which edition of blue book do I buy 1st 2nd 3rd

Do they have different practice tests?

Also, which 3rd party book has the best CR and W sections

PR, Kaplan, Grubers etc.?

Thank you for your help

I am aiming for 750+ CR and W

in October

You should buy the 2nd edition College Board Official SAT Study Guide, due to come out sometime in July. As for a 3rd party book, RocketReview might help with CR and Writing. Barron’s 2400 is decent for writing and CR also.

Thanks, I already know some strategies, I was wondering which 3rd party books have the most accurate tests

i don’t think using third party tests would help you :[ the key is to get as much practice possible out of actual tests (BB, online course, QAS, psats, etc…) You can get a hold of over 20 real tests. They’re out there… see if your friends have some QAS… the reason third party tests really don’t work is that first of all they all have different difficulty levels, none that comes close to the actual difficulty level. Secondly, the questions are inaccurate. If you practice with inaccurate questions, it’ll be harder for you to get a hang of the pattern the testmakers use on the real SAT. There is NO pattern on third party tests.

I bought Princeton Review after I took the SAT the first time and found their writing section helpful. They had a lot of good things to check for in the multiple choice, and it brought my score up a ton! I’m not telling you to use their practice tests (even though I did), but the sections on writing I definitely found helpful.

thank you guys/gals for your input
